Beat FLA without using Skenes is a much bigger flex.

I thought the same. It said "if you even think about mounting a comeback, don't bother, I'll just insert Skenes". That gains a huge psychological advantage.

He had said Bertman gave him advice, and to not start Skenes. I would bet the other bullet points came from Bertman as well.

He said on the press conference he talks to Skip like 3 times a week. Why wouldn’t he, Bertman is the goat of college pitching coaches.

If you got it, flaunt it.

CJJ said this in postgame? Or this is your theory?

I thought you could feel it. When Skenes went to the bullpen, I thought I could see some clenched jaws in the UF dugout. They did not want to face him with the game on the line.

just my take on it but I thought that was the sole reason for sending him to the pen, I never really thought he'd come in

If the game would have been in jeopardy, he would have come in. I don’t think anyone could have stopped him. I don’t think he was going to watch LSU lose if it came down to it. Luckily, he best contribution for the night was getting Milazzo to the dog pile.

The thinking around me was that we'd see Skenes in the 9th.
As a curtain call, since we obviously didn't need him by then.

I thought about that as well, but later, I thought Guidry should rightfully get the final pitches.

But Jay just warming him up for the intimidation factor? That's something I didn't even think about.

We did. When you looked at him in the bullpen, the guy was laughing. We talked about whether this was a scare tactic for the Gators. I think it was and I think it was well thought out by CJJ.

It’s almost as if Jay has way more information than the average fan who just tuned in a week ago. He knows more about baseball than everyone on this board combined. Time to let the man do his thing and trust it’s for the best

I saw an interview with CJJ's father. He said CJJ said he wanted to coach college baseball at the age of 5. As a youngster, he was way into analytics and statistics. His father said, the boy knew more about baseball than most adults and studied the game his entire life. I believe it.

CJJ said as much during the post game presser. He said that Skenes was good for 30 pitchers. It was just a question of when. He wanted to save Skenes for the end if nevessary. Having Skenes come out to close would have been a mind frick. You battle out for 7-8 innings just to have to face the best ace in CBB? What a gut punch.
