A really stupid post! Pistol Pete would win 9 out of 10 contests. You had better do a bit more research...

Depends how much room they have to work with. Neither was all that interested in playing any D, so you could essentially assume that both would be getting open looks most of the time...and considering how good both were at draining long range jumpers, it would essentially come down to how missed more often. Out of 10, I'd say Pistol takes 6...but it could go either way. Would have been fun to watch, though.

Pete takes him 21 to nothing. Pete then stabs the nasty traitor in the heart with an American flag. Pete drives it deep into his cold, dark, Muslim heart. As the lifeless form lies beneath Pete's foot, he raises his eyes, places his hand upon his heart, and begins to recite the pledge and sing the national anthem. He grins to himself, knowing that Mahmoud is also staring straight into the stars and stripes.

frick Mahmoud, Piece of shite should have been banned from ever coming on campus again.
So based on someone's religion and lack of patriotism they should be banned from campus? He committed no crime.

CJ's freshman year was amazing, but you're comparing him to one of the greatest scorers/ball handlers who ever lived. Chris Jackson isn't in that category. A better comparison would be CJ vs Nick Van Exel, or somebody like that.

I think CJ would win a close game. Neither ever played any type of defense anyway and CJ is quicker.

Surely you can't be serious. Pistol Pete, the greatest ball handler ever, would destroy CJ. Did you ever watch Pistol play. I saw him numerous times while in college and in the pros, with the Jazz. He could do thinks with a basketball that you couldn't believe. No one before or since could come close.

PP would shoot j's over CJ all day long.
I'm sure it would be close though.

The Pistol wins easily. Consider that Maravich averaged better than 40 points per game during his soph, jr, and sr years, and it was done without a three-point line. (Coach Brown once mapped out the shots Pete made and plotted them as though the three-point line had been there and. . . according to Daddy Dale, the Pistol's aveage would have been closer to 60 ppg!) CJ had the three-point line and never even approached an average of 40 ppg for even a part of a single season.
Nope, Pistol Pete takes it 10 out of 10 in a 1-on-1 game.

There's never been a player that could beat Pete one on one!
Abdul wouldn't stand a chance against Pete. And if you think otherwise then I know you never saw Pete in
Action I've seen both.

If you think CJ was quicker you are just plain damn stupid!

I am sorry....but what? Pistol is one of the best ball players ever, but he could not out shoot CJ from deep. Pistol was a great all around scorer, but CJ was one of the best pure shooters ever. I watched practices where CJ would not miss. Pistol is the man, but don't short change CJ. People may hate him but as a ball player, he was special.
22 posts. Hmmmm..... You need to do more research on this. Did you ever see the pistol play?

Yes 22. I don't need to post more to seem like I know more. I have seen many tapes of PP while in Dale Brown's office and more(As my cousin was in the movie The Pistol). But people who just worship him as if he was perfect are simple. Yes, I give him all the props he deserves and I have bragged on him many times. But you all must have forgotten how special CJ was. He even torched John Stockton and the Mailman for 40+ and Jordan's bulls for 40+ in the NBA. He was amazing. Now was pistol better historically, YES. But to make it seem like one of the top players in the history of LSU and college basketball could not compete with Pete, you are either using race/religion or just not smart.
I never stated CJ was better, I merely said that his greatness was being short-changed by most here. For the reasons of his beliefs, he gets called all sorts of names. Do I agree with his stance, heck no. But I don't let that cloud my judgement when speaking on his basketball ability. He is at worst, in the top 5 all time at LSU. To watch live or taped footage of PP and to not come away from it in aw would make me dumb. But in the argument, PP would have to play defense at some point. And if you are objective, top 50 all time players could not stop CJ in games(college or pro). So to think that somehow PP would never miss and make it seem as though CJ could not score on him is flat out silly.

i call bullshite on this one.
you mean to tell me he was able to (a) locate and (b) look at those high quality 1970s game films if one existed and (c) analyze each shot of every game PP made over the course of a season and make that determination?
sounds like a tall tale

missing the point, Pistol's game was all around better "hence being voted in the top 50 players all time in the NBA" not to mention he was 5 inches taller than CJ and would not only be able to out shoot him on the perimeter but also post him up. 8 or 9 out of 10 games Pistol wins!!!
I'm not saying that Pistol wasn't one of the most exceptional players ever. The question wasn't which guy was the better player. It was who would win in a one on one game. Those take place on an actual court, with actual dimensions where players are forced to play each other.
Because of that, a guy with the insanely fast quicks that CJ had, coupled with his tremendous outside shooting ability would have more than a puncher's chance against a slower, rangier guy who could never be bothered to play D. Pistol could not prevent CJ from driving around him, and CJ certainly could not prevent Pistol from posting. Both would rain down jumpers on the other because neither would play D and even if they did both were simply too good at freeing themselves for open jumpers.

Thank you TM. You said in short what I could not say in a long post. Just asking for objectivity here which is so hard to find.
