Chris Reid made 10 errors when he started as a freshman. Hal Hughes started last year and made... 10 errors. Not sure how one can say Hughes' glove is that much better than Reid's. It's all on paper. gimme Reid over Hughes every day of the week.

Thank you for telling us exactly how little you know about the sport.

Hughes made 10 errors at the most demanding infield position. His range is better than Reid’s which allows him to attempt to play more balls. Hughes has a better arm allowing him to attempt more plays.

None of it is on paper. It’s on the field and as much as I like Chris Reid he is nowhere close to the fielder that Hal Hughes is.

Damn he really tore up Southern and Bryant The only decent teams we've played so far like Southeastern, ULM, or Army he has gone hitless in those games. Nice try though

Really? Cause Josh Smith has an error at SS. Therefore, Reid should take his place at SS. The numbers don't lie.

Exhibit 8 million why errors are so ridiculous is the opening night miss by Bianco (and, I guess, Broussard) at first. No error charged on that.

So any team he hits against sucks, and any team he doesn't hit against is good? Got it. The entire team doesn't really matter when batting, only the pitchers do.

Bryant is better than Southeastern. But you think 3rd base and shortstop are equally difficult defensive positions to play, so I don't expect you to know that.

ETA: Bryant is probably better than ULM too. They're probably better than Cal.

Also, I like Reid as a player in the right situations, but I'm pretty sure in a race with Clark and Ochinko, Reid's glacial pace would finish last.

I don't know if he is an expert, but I do know that you are not one.

Is it blissful being as dumb as you or does it just hurt?

Correct. Before last week it would have been Dugas. Now, I'm sure Bianco would be given a legit opportunity to work through his hitting at third, if something happened to Hughes.

Reid is the ultimate team player, a fan favorite, seems like a great kid, and does just about everything adequately. He is the perfect utility role player. Why can't people just accept that? It seems he has.

It means he doesn't do well against higher level pitching
your lack of knowledge about the game is pretty embarrassing

Hal is swinging the bat well. Even his outs have been coming after solid contact.

I look at Hughes like I did Kramer early in his career.
While is average isn't great, he does not look over matched at the plate and often hits the ball hard. Like Kramer, I think his hitting will only improve and he is great defensively.

What higher level pitching dude? We haven't faced the highest levels we are going to face yet. The only measuring stick is what he has done so far, and he is hitting just under .300 (and over .300 last week). That's all we have to go off of. It's WAY too early to tell either way. And after this weekend, it will still be too early to tell.

Only one of us here seems to have a lack of knowledge, and here is a hint, it's not me. Mr. 10 errors.

You mean a whole lot better.

Chris Reid was the last guy on the team for a reason. You love the guy for who he is, but he's not a starter you really want, he's a fall-back option who can hold things together for you in case you need him to.

As long as Hughes isn't hitting horrifically bad (say .220+), he will be out there at 3rd for the time being. With Bianco not lighting the world on fire early on and Dugas (could he even play 3rd?) out for a while Hughes has the spot on lock down for the foreseeable future.

Chris, if you want to start, you need to talk to Paul. It won’t help you to create an account on TD and beg all of us to get you in there. We like you and everything but you are even better at baseball than you are at creating decent posts. Lol

Not sure why you replied to me. That last sentence is a bit much though.

Chris Reid has accepted his role, I don't understand why some fans can't.
