There were insiders who said even prior to the USC game that it was a stress fracture and not a bone bruise. I just don't understand why LSU has reported on it the way they have.

Gamesmanship, maybe?

I know everyone says “nobody is preparing for Chris Hilton” but I do think it’s interesting that I’ve heard the media talk all season about how Hilton will be the guy who can come in and take the top off a defense. Then he doesn’t play and we’ve largely (before Ole Miss) focused on the short passing game.

Then we get to Ole Miss, it’s obvious he won’t play, and we take deep shots the whole game.

It wouldn’t shock me if they had obfuscated the injury to try and gain some minute advantage. Openly stating that he’ll be out several weeks doesn’t really help anything other than providing clarity to fans.

I figured it was something more serious because Hilton doesn't come off as a player that would intentionally sit out because in the Wisconsin game he had a serious connection with Nuss. I mean so serious if he was 100% healthy I bet we don't lose to USC in Vegas.

If that’s the case, then why won’t Kelly just say that?
It’s a lot fairer to Hilton than letting our retarded fan base just think he’s a pussy.

The original diagnosis of the injury was a bone bruise and Hilton was listed as day-to-day as a "pain tolerance" issue. After a few weeks of the pain/issue still lingering, he was re-evaluated and it was determined there was a stress fracture. The player said something along the lines of "stress fractures are hard to put a timeline on from a healing process."

Also, just to add some detail, isnt the injury in his ankle? Hard to run with a bum ankle. I could be mistaken and am going info from a month ago or more.

That may legit be the case but if he can come back he gains little to nothing by sitting the whole year. He is in 4th yr and has already RS'd. He can come back next season if need be regardless. (5 to play 4) He does not have a covid yr FWIW.

CH has a small sample size in 22 receptions but his career YPC is 18.9 yds. He certainly can help the team even if he does come back late in the year.

Didn't someone's mother complain that it was a HIPAA violation earlier this year when there was sort of a vague mention of an ankle injury? Was that Hilton's mother?

I would wait and then if LSU's season stretched that long, put him back in. If we have 3 losses after Bama, just shelve him until next year.

frick that. If he’s ready, bring him back. The season isn’t over with 3 losses, even if our main goals aren’t still attainable. 9-3 is better than 8-4. If he can make any difference, he needs to play. He also needs the reps for next year. He hasn’t played a whole lot of football in his LSU career. The more the better. He’s already redshirted. I guess he could get a medical, but dude wants to play in the NFL, I’m sure. He’s not coming back for 2 more seasons unless something goes really bad again next year. In which case, he could apply for a medical then if he even wants to come back for a 6th season.

I wondered that all along. Twenty or so years ago, I was doing some heavy training, and started having pain on the medial side of my knee, not in the joint. Had an xray and exam and diagnosed with "bone bruise" after several weeks of no improvement, long story short, went in for a MRI and showed a stress fracture of the tibial plateau. The sports medicine team I was being cared for told me that pre-MRI, based on X-ray and physical findings, it would have likely been diagnosed as a bone bruise. Being a physician myself (not an orthopedist), I thought that was interesting and just kinda filed it away and whever I heard bone bruise on injury reports it always made me think of that. It took me like three months off of running, tennis and general lower body training to get pain free from that.

Just accept that he's not coming back, maybe he'll be a pleasant surprise but kind just seems to be injury bit, but so did Thad Moss

I dont understand why so many people care so much about Hilton playing.

22 receptions in 3 years. Why are so many people expecting him to be some game changer WR for us this year? I mean I hope he is, but LSU WR's generally have broken out by their 3rd year. He's done much of nothing in 3 years here. Why are we expecting an awesome 4th year?

That was Perkins and his knee.

Kelly has proven that he really doesn’t like to give injury specifics. If the player and their family aren’t sharing details, then he isn’t. LSU can hide behind HIPPA then and they don’t have to share more than they want to. It’s strange, but it’s just what they do.

Another example is West Weeks. Did we ever get any explanation on his injury? Sounds like he’s out for the season. Adams shared an Instagram post that he had surgery before Kelly said anything about his injury.

Either the On3 or 247 podcast guys said they believe he will eventually play since he has already used a redshirt. He still has eligibility for next season regardless, so sitting the rest of the games doesn’t benefit him.

They’re all around the program a lot and hear things. I think they predicted after the Bama bye. It could be just a guess on their part, but we’ll see.

He and Nuss played well together in the bowl game last season and he has the prototypical outside WR speed and build.
