I hope we never ever have to start a redshirt freshman, true freshman, or true sophomore ever again.

Face it guys, we got problems. After 2yrs in the system, either CG knows that JJ, JL, or ZL are better than him, or our coaches are in over their head and niether is what we should know at this point. It's amateur sports, I've seen magical runs with unhearalded and unsuspected leaders, ZL needs a serious look if he apparently looks that good to his competition.

Not even ULM, Tech, or ULL offered and now he's the savior of LSU football? Really? Wow, this is getting boring.

Some kids develop late. You never know, but its always a risk. If Z.Lee isn't on the roster, LSU despearately needs some top notch talent that is read to step in and contribute on the horizon. If Lee doesn't play, the situation isn't as dire as it could be but is about as close to that point as you can get.

I agree you have to have more than 1 QB on the roster besides the two juniors we have now. If Lee does not sign we are in some crap for the future. Lee is also going to be heavily invested in baseball which is also not good for football. It's gonna be interesting. Zach Lee can pretty much do whatever he wants as far as splitting time he has got Les by the balls. It's gonna be interesting if he goes to the Dodgers.

Yeah, I think LSU will have to start looking at QB recruits who are physically ready to come in and contribute, not projects. This may actually bode well for future recruiting, depending on how this shakes out.

The timing is just freaky. This is just a few weeks before fall practice.

We will be better off, b/c i tink this mean ZL is a lock and will be here in the fall. Better off in the long run, he woulnt of evey played a down. That why miles released him.Good move for him and our team.

We can only hope this is true. But even if Lee does make it to campus, thats still no guarantee.

CG is seeing the lack of progression with the current QB situation and how poorly our QB have done in the NFL. ZL won't ever start for the football team. He's a baseball player first.

Wow, I think we were all hoping that Garrett was the future..since Lee looked bad and JJ appears to not have the "it" factor

I think his lack of playing time in the spring game was telling...

We have problems, big problems.

If we don't at least get Matt Flynn type of performances, we will be an 8-4 program every year

if that's the case, the no QB should ever commit to Miami, Florida, FSU, Nebraska, Ohio St., etc, etc, ever again.

Mauck and Flynn were never expected to do much in the league other than back up, and Flynn beat out a 2nd rounder for a spot.

Russell, well that's nobody's fault but his own.

Agree.

Disagree big time.

Rohan has a SB Ring and was playing football up until a year or so ago (I think).

Mauk was always going to be a dentist.

Flynn will get traded after this season and legitimately get himself in the mix... (I'll go out on a limb and say Arizona, Tampa or KC.)

Russell is a unique situation... I don't think anybody believes he is cut from the typical LSU mold... I think people are actually amazed LSU got as much out of him as they did.

I agree LSU QB's haven't performed well in NFL but the same can be said for 90% of other colleges. That i would say is a lame excuse created by the people here on this board

No matter how much anyone wants to make themselves feel better about this situation, Zach Lee isn't a done deal to LSU right now......not until mid-august. Therefore irresponsible on LSU's part if it was their decision. Even if he was a done deal, putting all your stock in a kid who has never taken a college snap is still irresponsible. Its so irresponsible I can't even believe this was LSU's decision.

Ive noticed that many posters in this thread bashing the coaches for cutting CG or the same ones that were saying CG will never see the field in a thread about a week ago. So which is it?

Good for Chris. If I were him I'd want to be in a situation where I could play more.

Does this open up an extra scholly to give a recruit in 2011?

OL attrition hasn't affected us really...it will this year

only 1 spot out of 5 could be blamed on attrition last year. the rest were either returning starters (black, hitt, barksdale) or groomed to be the starter (hebert)
so the guys that were kicked off that ended up being starters elsewhere wouldn't have helped at all last year?

I rarely bash coaches...but the QB situation on this team is a disaster. This may be Les' death blow.

There was a thread yesterday that asked if Chris Garrett would see the field. My response..."yes, when he transfers to Mississippi State." His leaving was inevitable.
