I dont think they are laughing about the fact that they now have Chavis. It was worth LSU to lose 500k to get rid of him.

eh, I'm ok with paying an extra $500k to be an incredible thorn in his side and pain in his arse over several years.

I don't give a frick what they want to laugh at. This was about the principality from the srart, not the money. Chief should have been in deep shite for recruiting for aTm while still on LSU's payroll, but that's kind of a joke because he can't recruit for shite.

Doesn't matter how much we had to spend. Chief still had to pay for his lawyers too, and now out of his pocket. And anyway, our anemic offenses have dragged their sack across his face every year since he left, so it's all good.

No way it cost us $600 unless we stashed a bunch of other costs that we were already going to pay anyways.

So......
Both sides logically had about the same legal cost, and aTm has to pay the settlement.
Using our numbers: aTm legal cost + $100K v LSU legal cost - $100K therefore LSU comes out $200K ahead. And you claim TAMU is laughing!

I like Aggie jokes! Aggies -$200K and keep the Chief!!!

I still don't believe that an opponent to litigation knows the other parties expenses.

I do believe that $600k (down from $650k in your original post) cannot be rationally explained in this case. There are no experts. There was no trial. There were a couple of long depositions. At least one appellate argument. There was the Texas case, too, that was dismissed. There might have been a lot of e-mails to look through, but I doubt it. Assuming that there were, this might be a 500 hour case max.

Don't shoot the messenger...Aggies are rich....they talk about money more than anybody I know....

Which is why I work here.....

And there was multiple court dates, discovery, mediation etc...it went 30 months. I'm sure both sides new the numbers...

Aggies trying to spin it their way of course. The fact is either they paid Chavis' legal fees or he paid them himself. Either way reason would tell you they fees would be about the same for both parties.
