Scott has not been given the chance that Collins had, therefore it is hard to pick.

If Charles Scott never took another snap at LSU or any other Div 1A school, would there be talk of him going in the 1st round? Would he be drafted in the 5th right now

That's not apples to apples. If CS was the only guy taking snaps becuase of an injury to our other primary back, then maybe his numbers would be similar to Cecil's. Remember, Cecil got alot of playing time because Faulk was hurt. Even though they were on the same team, they were almost never healthy at the same time.

Here we go. Lets not get carried away here. Everyone knows, had Cecil not screwed up, Faulk lost his starting job by being hurt. Thats right. The second leading rusher in SEC history wasn't quite as good as the Diesel.

The Diesel is more like a LEGEND nowadays. Every year his game against AUB gets better and better.

The fact was he had a great 4 game stretch and thats it. He was a solid pro for a couple of years but wasn't anything special.

If Justin Vincent would have quit after the 2003 NC Game, he would probably have been thought of in the same way as Cecil.

For the 2-3 games he played, Cecil was the best RB I have ever seen play for LSU. I go back to the days of Joe Labruzzo to Brad Davis, Robiskie, Alexander, Hilliard, Harvey Williams, Faulk, Mealey, DD, Toefield, etc, and none of those guys, great as they were, could match Cecil.
If Cecil had stayed out of trouble, we would be talking about him and Hershell Walker, Bo Jackson, and Marcus Dupree as all of them were similar to Cecil interms of style, talent. What a shame.

That's my take on it as well... he seemed like the most talented RB i've ever seen play... made other great athletes look slow and weak

Cecil Collins and it's not even close. Cecil would have been a Heisman contender had he possessed a brain and played 4 years.

The vision he had on the field nobody on LSU's roster has right now. Don't forget, he rushed for over 7,000 yards and 99 TDs in high school. I saw Scott play in high school and he wasn't the best RB on the field the game I watched.

With that being said ... Scott is a very valuable back for LSU, but not in Cecil's class.

I think I'm with SFP on this one.

The basis of the argument is to compare Cecil in his prime at LSU and Charles Scott now.

Well then the basis is flawed. What is Cecil Collins prime? You either have to go off of what you saw in 2-3 games or High school to what you have see from Charles Scott so far. Scott hasn't been given the opportunities that Cecil was(being the #1 back for a full game).

I honestly gotta say that objectively there is no good argument as to why Cecil was definately, far and above, hands down, a better back then Charles Scott is like some of you are insinuating.

I will not read 7 pages of comments but as an earlier poster stated, I have seen them all since 1965 and Cecil, based entirely on ~2 games, was the best. Would that translate into a career, who knows. Case in point Justin V. The real question is Scott vs. pre injury Broussard. That is an appropriate comparison in styles and to some extent time on field. Collins had all the makings of a one of the all time greats.

When Cecil ran out of his shoes in Tiger Stadium he became legend. I love CS but he hasn't reached that status yet.

I want to know how many people posting on here actually watched Cecil play at LSU. He was the best college RB I have ever watched except Barry Sanders and Bo Jackson. I would put him up there with McFadden.

I'm not reading all the pages, but is this a serious question? Talent alone, Cecil may have been one of the best ever.

DMAc > Collins. come the frick on

DMac v LSU in 06 and 07 beats collins' running against his top Ds in that little stretch

and those 2 games aren't even counting the game in which he set the record for rushing yards in an SEC game

I'm not reading this entire thread......from the looks of it is sucks pretty bad but hopefully, CS will be allowed to score multiple TD's/game this fall so we can see how good he can really be.

I read the first couple posts and the guys like SFP that think Charles Scott even comes close to Cecil Collins are freaking idiots.

You can't compare Cecil Collins to Charles Scott, it's not fair.
