There's no doubt he's the first corner taken. But if there's no one doing any taking, I think he stays.

Having said that, I don't want to be misunderstood, the chances of that happening are right between slim and none.

Cornerback is an important position in the NFL and a big need for most teams so the chances of the 1st cornerback not taken as a top 10 pick are very slim.

With that said Patrick Peterson will probably be ranked as a top 5 overall athlete of the entire draft. IMO.

3% he stays

Isn't his brother a senior in high school with LSU high on his list?
That would be only reason I could see him staying to play on same team as his brother.

Everything hinges on whether or not he personally believes there will be a player lockout in July of 2011. If a guy believes there will be a lockout next year that could seemingly influence his decision to return.

There will be a 2011 Draft regardless of the labor situation.

0-5% assuming he stays healthy and has even a respectable year.

However there is a great deal of uncertainty regarding contractual issues, especially for rookies if the owners go the lockout route. There is specualtion amongst the NFL gurus that teams will be loathe to dole out big signing bonuses if the season is a possible wash. Unless there's a miracle this scenario is likely. Enjoy the normal NFL routine this season because it's likely to be screwed up big-time next season.

Sorry but I haven't kept up with what's going on. Why might there not be a season in two years and why does it not affect this upcoming year?

The current CBA(collective bargaining agreement) between the owners and players union expires in March 2011. While this will not prevent the draft next April, if the CBA issue is not resolved come July, then the owners are likely to "lock-out" the players. Anyone's guess as to how long the CBA negotiations could take but there are whispers inside the NFL community that the 2011 season could be partially are completely wiped out. (See the 9-game season of 1982). Given this possible secenario there are myriads of possibilites regarding the treatment of rookie contracts, signing bonuses, etc. in 2011. They discuss it quite a bit on the NFL network if you catch it.

chances Peterson returns

I have him ranked as the #8 TE in the nation preseason. He could leave this year and be a nice 5th round pickup for some lucky team.
