Please point out where I've said what he did wasn't HUGE...I'm just not jumping to conclusions that he is the savior of the baseball season. I said we need to see him in the mid week games to see if he can do it on a consistent basis.
I was only pointing out that you said he should only get time out of the pen during the midweek games...nothing more..nothing less.
And I think..just like i stated...that if we were gonna see him in a predicament like today..that PM has enough confidence in him to play him on the weekends...even if he gives up some runs this week against Tulane.

I was impressed with his control. He came in and threw strikes. We have roster pitchers who haven't managed to do that this year.
I agree he was hitting all of his spots.

quote:I would say that whatever he has done in practice/workouts/whatever has obviously earned him a chance to show if he could do it in a clutch situation in a weekend SEC series. I would not be surprised to see him appear in a couple of midweek games after this as well, but whether he does or not I expect that he will get at least another appearance or two in future SEC series. The coaches were confident enough in him already to put him out there for a clutch situation today, and I would not think anything he did today would lessen that confidence.
He just faced 3 batters. I'm sure this has certainly earned him a couple of chances in the middle of the week to prove that he can do it on a consistent basis.

Yeah, Maineri wouldn't have put him in that crucial spot if he hadn't had the utmost confidence in him.

Is Grewe the "better coaching"?
Why couldnt he be? Our pitching is actually pretty good.

Or zero confidence in anyone else that he had left to use in the pin.

IF CJ wasnt a lefty...we never would have seen him in that situation...that's just my opinion.

Oh no...I didn't say he should ONLY get time during the week. I said he should have earned himself a chance in the midweek games (this week) to see if he is actually the real deal and can help us out big on the weekends. Never said he should be a midweek pitcher only.

He has never been a pitching coach anywhere until now. Other than the two front line starters and the closer I think our pitching has been a little disappointing.

I have, but if I missed it somewhere please tell me where he was a pitching coach prior to this year.

So he doesnt get credit for the incredible job that AR, Coleman, and Ott have been doing? And Ross has been good for much of the year...struggling lately...Bradshaw doing ok..Cain coming on lately..
There arent many college bullpens that are that great...seriously.

I think there's a shite ton of coaches who'd love to have a disappointing staff that features 2 aces and a lights out closer.

Exactly
NOt many studs pitching in college bullpens. They are gonna go pro before being relegated to the middle relief if they are that good.
