I have got word from two people who work at the hospital that he will be lucky to walk again,
(I'm assuming they are support staff because medical staff aren't supposed to talk loosely about such things)

No staff in a hsopital should ever tell anyone anything about a patient. They should be fired if it is found out who they are.

be gracious.
Then he should offer his prayers and keep his armchair medical opinion to himself.
Let's be respectful to the kid, his family and his friends and leave the medical diagnosis up to the professionals.

Hate to hear this about Jones. Hope he can pull through and recover. He was a joy to watch in both football and baseball.

All hospital staff needs to STFU if they want to keep their jobs because they are in serious violation of HIPAA regulations.

Again guys - can we please keep the pointless attacks out of this and keep it informative? Anyone who has information to share, be it from a link or a contact close to the situation, is very much appreciated.

Thanks.

thanks...I came on to get an update and most of what I read on the last page was people bitching at each other. Lets be civil...

I don't even have the words to say to express how badly I feel for Chad & all involved. I will keep him in my prayers.

From dolf1967's link:
Someone earlier mentioned the streetcar grooves and driving issues involving them.
Love the photo at the link too - really makes me hurt for CJ and his fam:
That was the Chad Jones game - the punt return, the fourth down stop...
Prayers sent again

In an Associated Press story, Jones’ agent Rocky Arceneaux said he spoke to the passengers, who said Jones was in the far left lane and turned the wheel abruptly to get his tires off the streetcar tracks grooves. The vehicle then rolled into a pole that carries an overhead electrical wire powering the streetcar line.

Can we get a seperate prayer board. How about one board for updating his condition and another for those wanting to express how they are praying for CJ.

Brand new Rover... big square tires... it's possible if he turned sharply that it cut the tire and he lost control...
(I drive a RR and had a scary hydro-plane moment when it was still new and I was getting used to driving it).
Thoughts and prayers...

Negativity deserves no part in this thread. Like mama used to say, "Just ignore the naysayers."
Let's put this in perspective. Chad is lucky to be alive. Let's hope he can recover from these injuries so that, maybe, he can represent LSU and the SEC as a professional athlete.
Best of luck to ya Chad!

I have worked in surgery for a long time and I worked with Dr. Andrews for two years here in birmingham. I still work with him on occasion and I am becoming concerned about the length of time he has been in surgery. I can not see any amount of fracture injury taking this much time to repair.
I am of the opinion that they may be having trouble establishing blood flow to his foot which I hope is not the case. Didn't I read that there was a major vessel damaged during the accident and there was a significant amount of blood loss?
I hope I am wrong and the people reporting on this are off with respect to their timeline. Hopefully they have just had multiple teams come in and this is what has caused the delay. The vascular team would have been the first team to work since blood flow is the most important in this situation and they would have been followed by the ortho team who I hope is working on him now. I feel certain they are doing everything possible to give him every opportunity for 100% recovery.
God bless him and I hope everything is going well.

It is hard to see a guy so young and full of promise have an accident like this. Chad is one of my favorite LSU players of all time and we are certainly praying for him and his family. I hope everything turns out ok and as others have said he is very lucky to have survived that accident.

I had a real crappy day at work today. Seeing this makes me realize how insignificant the trials and tribulations of daily life are and what is really important. God bless Chad and his family.

You hate to see it happen to anybody but when a kid has "made it" it hurts a little more I think. I have seen some real shitty things happen to great people and atheletes and you can't ehlp but wonder why sometimes.
