Don’t know recent comments, but they all hurt, relying on Freshmen and others to complete practice

Whatever he said most people will be mad about it.

If it’s coach speak then people will be pissed off that he’s lieing and thinks we’re dumb.

If it’s honest then people will be pissed off that he’s not playing his cards close to the vest and just saying whatever he feels like

They’re all hurt and haven’t played up to their potential even when healthy. I would assume they want someone to grab the position by the balls and no one has.

He isn’t wrong. Emery has been a flop and isn’t really getting any better

What an absurd comment. Emery was absolutely getting better and had all but taken over the #1 spot until he hurt his shoulder. He's since had shoulder surgery and hasn't really practiced IIRC.

The problem is he’s slight of frame, suspect hands, hurt all the time, and goes down nearly anytime he gets a hand on him. It’s a bad mixture.

The practice videos i’ve seen made it look like he’s put on a little weight, but he’s still in a non-contact jersey.

The coaches need to sit him down and ask if he wants to be a Malachi Dupre or a Ja’Marr Chase. Because right now his career trajectory is towards Dupre. Have a few nice moments, but neved lived up to the 5 star billing and out of the NFL quickly.

I dont Think the issue is the RBs is the OL giving them 0 opportunity to shine.

TDP is a big guy so he can at least push a pile, but Emery average .7 more yard per carry.

I can understand to some degree. The O Line was been inept. But its time to step up and prove the hype was not just words. DP has shown flashes, Emery not so much, except a couple runs in two years.
No running back has been reliable when asked to catch a pass.
Hopefully the freshmen exceed what we have seen out of the veterans.

Makes you appreciate even more the talents of CEH, that fire hydrant was catching passes off his shoe laces, if it hit his hands he caught it.

Emery needs a good year. Definitely has been a disappointment so far

I’m from Destrehan and I actually think Emery is average at best. I don’t think he’ll ever amount to much on the field. Hope I’m wrong, but I haven’t seen anything to suggest anything otherwise.

TDP is the most complete back right now. Emory shows flashes, but very inconsistent.

I hope they put Palmer back there for a few snaps like they use Chase and Jefferson in 19 in the back field.

True. In 2019 CEH was leading the nation in contact behind the LOS about midway through the season. The OL improved towards the end and then took a step back in 2020 with new starters.

The only RB in my memory that could still thrive with little to no blocking was Earl Campbell.

We don't have Earl Campbell on this team.

O is generally pretty candid about the team/players, and he's seemingly expressed frustration about the RB's more than once. I think he's aggravated the two scholarship guys can't participate in practice because of injury which is compounded on the fact that neither has been "special" in their time at LSU. Emery came in with a ton of hype and has pretty much be a non-factor to date. TDP has had moments of good play, but hasn't been great. I think with TDP he is just a bad fit for what LSU wants to run. He's more of a Miles-type RB who is a big, strong, downhill runner who doesn't have a ton of quick acceleration or make-you-miss ability. That's probably not ideal for a guy who will take almost all of his snaps our of the shotgun from mostly a standstill position. I think he has been a solid player considering he's being asked to do something that doesn't play to his stregths.

For his part it sounds like Emery just can't get on the same page with his assignments. Going in to 2019 we thought he was eventually, if not quickly, going to take over the RB spot because CEH didn't really have that "home run" ability. Quickly, we learned just how good Clyde was in that offense. But even then, it was pretty telling that Emery went to the very back of the RB line...in large part because he couldn't hold on to the football in practice
