If we would have to throw a hail mary and that penalty helped us to get in that position......fine, I could deal with it (still take the win and go on my merry way though..lol) but the fact is we ran it in and no penalty yards was going to change that. No one was going to catch Scott on that play.....even if we are on the fricking 1 when we start that play. They of course don't mention how we score, just that we won after receiving the extra yards.

That should be fun. What else are they going to do, talk about LSU's team? The only time they can spare from talking about Tebow's injury will go to discussing how even if LSU wins it will be by some sort of trickery or luck etc.

Sports Center anchor says Herby coming up to discuss "penalty that cost georgia the game". I normally try to stay away from this bullshite but I am starting to get pissed. ESPN is being blatantly dishonest and quite frankly their constant harping on the matter is unethical. I agree it was a terrible call but uga still had a more than fair chance to stop us and they couldn't. To top it off they were then given the same oppurtunity due to the same bullshite call on us and they couldn't get the job done.

LSU would not have been "pinned back" on its own 30 yard line, because Trindon Holliday still returned the ball to the UGA 38. Take away the 15 yard penatly, and LSU is still at its own 47. Add five for the stupid procedure penatly, and LSU is now at the UGA 48. I figure Scott still gets the ball at least once, if not twice, and LSU has a chance to kick a field goal at the very least. Jasper has already made one from 52 yards out this year.
The bottom line is this: it was UGA's poor coverage on the kickoff, NOT THE STUPID PENALTY ON GREEN, that cost them. If LSU had to start at its own 30 (much as the Dawgs had to do after Scott's run), then LSU probably loses the game, but Holliday made sure LSU had great field position and very little ground to cover to be in position to win.

This makes ZERO sense. I can't believe someone would believe this. A kickoff team practices lanes, tackling, maybe kicking it to one side of the field or the other, etc everyday. All from the regular kickoff position. When you change the field position by 15 yards it very well may affect the coverage. On top of that, as fired up as UGA was, they very well may have kicked it into the endzone. In any case, the penalty could very well have affected the return as well and to say Holiday would have made the exact same return yardage is so ridiculous and ignorant, it is simply laughable.

Yeah, yeah, Scott's run for a touchdown. If you were pinned back on your own 30 yard line (could'a been more or less) would Scott have gotten the ball or would Jefferson be throwing the ball? I seriously doubt Charles Scott would have gotten the ball with about a minute left. But anyway, we didn't take care of business early in the game, we missed a FG so we really didn't deserve a comeback. FWIW, Florida is going to KILL LSUX.

Honestly, we should have lost given the reasons that have been presented ad infinitum.
I really think that the LSU people here have whined more about respect from a "tainted" win, than any UGA fan has stated "WE WOULD HAVE WON!". It was a shitty call. The SEC referee supervisor admitted it was.
Guilt tends to do that.
Bottom line...you won...we lost.
If the media wants to "enhance the story", so be it. It's a controversy and any kind of ....."what about Trindon", "they had as much time", "Richardson could have run for 100"...is moot. All because of a shitty call. Therein lies the blame.
The media is going to do what they have been established and chartered to do...make a buck. It's capitalism.
My own take? You should have accepted the win and ignored the shitstorm. The conjecture and erection of a strawman on this board is phenomenal.
No wonder the world after Katrina, once sanity returned, saw Louisiana...for what it is.
Whiners.

Please,....
Excessive Celebration penalties with less than 2:00 to go in the 4th quarter of a tight game now result in automatic touchdowns, automatic two point conversions for the opposing team, along with automatic interceptions on 3rd downs of the next drive?
anyone SERIOUSLY saying that we don't win the game without that penalty?
If you are, please explain to me-and the rest of the CFB watching Universe-how the University of Georgia-who had more time left on the clock, with just as many timeouts, was unable to do the same thing we were after we scored & were tagged for the same penalty?
AJ Green's penalty had NOTHING to do with Trindon Holliday tearing Georgia a new one in the return department on kickoffs. Go look at the return prior to the last one. We were ripping them apart (As an aside, you think Richt will continue to run walk-ons & back-up quarterbacks out there on coverage units? Or do you think he should complain & whine that the Excessive Celebration Penalty also temporarily affected his ability to put a competent coverage unit out there on that ensuing kickoff?).
We needed a Field Goal...That's all. We got a touchdown. We gave it back to them. With the EXACT SAME OPPORTUNITY.
One team capitalized after TWO teams were handed the same opportunity.
That team got the W. Their name is LSU. PERIOD.
Go disparage Georgia's sorry Kickoff Return & Kickoff Coverage Units. Go disparage their 5th year quarterback who threw it into coverage on the sideline on 3rd & 15.
But don't p!ss on LSU fans legs & tell them that penalty won them the game.
We won it between the white lines, & your overinflated sense of omniscient opinion on all matters CFB is blinded-once again-by the program that loves to whine their @sses off.
Perhaps Richt should've realized that he might have brought this on himself with that excessive celebration game back in 2007. You remember that season, don't you? That's the one where Richt whined about not being able to play for the National Title when LSU won it when they both had 2 losses...in spite of not even participating in the SECCG.
That you can't see these charlatans for what they are is hilarious.
Oh, by the way...You wanna go look up robbery...Go watch what the SEC refs did to JaMarcus Russell, Early Doucet, & the LSU Football team at Jordan Hare Stadium in Auburn back in 2006. Then go talk about folks getting robbed.
We're still waiting on Rogers Redding's apology on that bullsh!t non-call.

To you UGA f*cks, if ya'll actually watched the game, then explain to me how UGA only had 3 players on the right side of the kickoff team, you know, the side that trindon went apeshit on. 15 yards or no 15 yards trindon would have gotten 40+ yards with only 3 players on one side of a kickoff. Hell, the refs added 5 more yards on top of his kickoff because they only had 3 players on one side. Are ya'll that f*ckin stupid to know that you shouldn't be mad at the refs, you should be mad at the special teams coach for being stupid enough to only have 3 players on one side of the kickoff. THATS THE REAL REASON WE WON, not our fault UGA fans and the media can't realize that. F*ckin idiots

You "doth protest too much methinks".
The argument over the call is not with LSU. It's with the SEC refs. The media has their own agenda.
If you are not secure in how it played out...that's your problem and personally...y'all are bitching too much.
You won the game.
You are playing the woulda, coulda shoulda scenario more than the Dawg fans.
Case in point...

nuwaydawg, everyone's barking up the wrong tree. I blame your coaches, especially Mark Richt, for putting the players in improper positions to make plays throughout the whole game. We simply capitalized on some golden opps that were presented. If we'd taken advantage of all of them the score would've been really embarassing for you.
I'd like to see some out-and-out spikes after scores if these pukes are going to call this celebration bs. Let's get our money's worth.

I don't mean to flame... but here comes...would've
If you look at the majority of the dawg fans posts, there was never an insinuation of an impropriety concerning LSU.
After "THE CALL"...who knows what would have happened. It's conjecture on both sides.
What is amazing is the non-warrented (in my opinion) attack on UGA. The media is going to do what they do.
It seems that the majority on this board have attacked UGA, made all kings of suppositions, when, to put it bluntly, the ref. (Michael Watson) erred. Who knows what would have happened?
"The call" was a game changer and an apology was made by the SEC supervisor.
A lot of energy and verbiage has been directed in the wrong direction. It astounded me that there are virtually no dawg fans on this site, yet multi-page threads on alleged whining occurred.
That's fricked-up.

I hate the fact that the media is discounting our victory by citing a call that hardly decided the game. It takes away from the efforts of both teams. I wish we'd have clobbered y'all convincingly when we had the chances. Best of luck the rest of the season, dawg.

Maybe we should apologize that we have a good return man that can take it past midfield and they don't ..
