Yesterday...

Arkansas td, 50 seconds left in 3rd quarter, long tv timeout.
Kickoff for touchback, tv timeout.
LSU runs two plays, end of quarter, tv timeout.
LSU runs three plays, a player got hurt, tv timeout.

Something else I have noticed when watching other games...
Enough with the promoting of other games, taste of the two segments, special interest segments by the sideline reporter. Many times, commercials aren't being run, but the play on the field can't start because of stupid CBS production crap. Being in the stadium for that garbage sucks.

CBS is the worst. ESPN games aren't quite as bad.

Totally agree and I focking hate CBS too. It's 4:45 yesterday and there were still 6+ minutes of crunch time left. CBS is miserable.

Chity that's another thing that perplexes me. Halftime lasts an eternity in cfb. I understand the bands need to play and I'm glad they do, but the halftimes are just brutal on tv. They show about 30 seconds of the bands and then right back to more commercials. Wish we could pare it down to what the NFL does

I agree. I am beginning to hate CBS. Their games run almost 5 hours long. It is ridiculous.

I'm watching at home, how terrible must it be to be in the stadium?

there was even one point in the game where they slipped in a half of a commercial and then went back live.

anyone else saw that?

It is terrible in the stadium. The guy behind me was saying "another 10 minute time out."

He was being kind. They were longer.

I used to love CBS but they have developed a new level of suck.

Verne is an icon, but need to step away. He is incorrect half the time. He is like harry carry was at the end of his career.

I also noticed the same things at the game yesterday. I even asked my brother when did CBS start having commercial breaks after kickoffs. I thought oy the NFL did that shite

touchdown, commercials, :11 seconds left in the third, kickoff, commercials, run one play, commercials.

Three sets of commercials around 1 mother fricking play from scrimmage

CBS is paying the SEC $55 million to televise their games. The only way they can get a ROI is through commercials.

Games on CBS with commercials or pay per view with no commercials? Be careful what you ask for.

And people wonder why attendance is so poor at games.
There has to be a point where the powers that be respect the rights of ticket holders.
There is no reason commercials cant be run during tape delays. That way they could even run more commercials.

Way to go extreme. Who said no commercials? All we're saying is calm that crap down. They show more commercial than they do game.

CBS is the only ones this bad. Spare me the "poor me's", they are a wealthy and highly functioning broadcast network, better positioned than most of it's peers. There is no excuse for the amount of commercials they force down our throats.

Compare the CBS games to the same kick off time for FOX, ABC, ESPN, NBC and you'll see the difference. The other channels will be almost ending the third quarter while CBS is midway through the second quarter.... with running teams. It is pathetic.

Exactly; this isn't anything new for CBS & how they handle telecasts of SEC games. Doesn't make it any less infuriating though.

Exactly. Sitting in the stadium for that is tucking stupid. If they really want to increase attendance then shite like this should be recognized and addressed by the higher ups. Something that could offset it is beer.

The way the two teams were playing, primarily running between tackles, short passes, not many incompletions, etc, that game should have ended by 430, at the latest.

I wanna say there was close to a minute left at 4:30.

Yesterday seemed worse than usual with the commercial breaks right before the end of the quarters. I've also noted over the years that the commercial BEFORE and AFTER the kickoff has been limited to NFL broadcasts. Yesterday was the first time I noticed this multiple times in a college game....

I chalk all of this up to the "B" CBS production crew. I haven't noticed this stuff with the main Saturday CBS crew, but I've also been either drinking or doing things around the house during commercials and/or pausing for a while and then fastforwarding. But I will try and watch the whole broadcast today and see if it's any better than yesterday.

Well, do you want the other option? LSU could revert back to the losing years (90's) and then we won't have to worry about TV timeouts...... I prefer the current situation!!! Gotta take the good with the bad.

CBS is not only awful but then you have to listen to Verne

I've stated here a million times, and I'm not joking about this:

When I watch a CFB game, ANY CFB game, my TV is muted. Always. I don't do this for any other sport, including the NFL.

CFB announcers are all about selling a product. By products I mean promoting major programs. For example, I don't want to hear about Alabama or USC (example from before Bama was THE media darling) when I'm watching LSU unless they are playing one of those two teams. With that in mind, TV is muted.

The NFL has cut down on this a good bit, as well as keeping several team timeouts to "30 second" timeouts, especially when it is obvious the time out is called to either save time, or delay the game for another reason.
