Charles Hanagriff discussed this last night on his show and noted that it's CBS's MO to choose the number 1 ranked team when given the opportunity. History has shown this to be true. In 2011 and 2019, respectively, CBS televised so many LSU games those seasons where LSU was way better than their opponents (recall LSU-Florida, LSU-Auburn in 2011, and LSU-Miss State in 2019), because CBS liked to have the highest ranked team, more so than competitive games. CBS thinks that people are more likely to tune in and watch a game because they like to see the number 1 ranked team. I think this is dumb, but it's CBS's strategy. As to Vandy-Alabama, CBS had only one time slot last week and chose a top 25 showdown with Florida and Tennessee. CBS has historically aired that game for historical and ratings reasons, just as they do with the Auburn-Georgia game

Oh yea LSU Auburn and LSU Florida in 2011. The games where 2 ranked teams were playing each other? Definitely had nothing to do with the other team, one of the teams was ranked #1!

But you actually think that could happen. Wow.

Me and Charles Hanagriff apparently, but yes, definitely think that's what happens.

Bama/A&M is set for the CBS night game...because of MLB commitments, down to GA/AU and TN/LSU for 2:30...if LSU is bypassed, then 6:30 on SEC

If CBS chooses the Georgia/Auburn game at 2:30, then LSU/Tennessee would likely be at 11:00 AM on ESPN. It shouldn't drop to SEC Network in the pecking order.

I think the 2:30 game comes down to who wins the LSU-Auburn game. And, oh btw, it looks like Auburn is terrible, but it's a 6pm home game for them, they'll be up for us.

If they win, Auburn is 4-1, and the Auburn-UGA game takes the 2:30 spot (maybe even the late game?).

If we win, then we're 4-1 and the LSU-Tenn game becomes desirable.

I’m fine with it. A&M will be dismantled on live tv for the whole world to see.

This will absolutely be the case. Winner of LSU-Aub will play on CBS.

I hope like hell we win because an 11am kickoff for a top 10 team will suck

Let's clarify something now, they will release the schedule THIS week. @SEConCBS tweeted at 12:30 PM EST this past Monday, Sept 19 that Alabama Arky would be the 3:30 game this Saturday, October 1st. We will know about our game time tomorrow

This isn’t necessarily true. CBS has a 6 day option that they can and probably will use in which case they won’t announce until next week.

Didn't not realize this, do you know any of the details of the options? I assume they can't use it every week or else they would. I don't think the viewership difference between UGA Aubbie vs LSU UT would be much, even though I expect our match-up to be a lot more fun.

Its either once a year or maybe for the two weekends they have double headers.

They have a 11:00 and 2:30 double header on 11/12

CBS is going to use their double header to put A&M Bama in the prime time slot for some stupid bickering between two old dudes.

Right, it's almost like they are trying to figure out what will pull in the most interest from the casual fan and tickle the interest of of advertisers so they can make the most money. Oh the horror.

Not exactly sure of the details. They have two double header weekends every year. It might be reserved for those weekends.

For the record, I still think there’s a small chance that we could get the night game if we beat Auburn and A&M loses to Miss St. Not saying it will happen, but I don’t think it’s out of the question.

It is at 11. I have inside game day sources. Tiny tiny chance it is not at 11.

Makes sense, wasn't sure if they had enough options for both weeks.
