I like what coach did there. At first I read it like we had to recruit him and talk him into it. I don’t think that was really the nature of it. I also don’t know which side desired it but I see it being from LSU side. It does some great things in regards to his development but also gives Jayden a sense that LSU is all in on getting him whatever he needs. I hope they are doing the same for Nuss.
I also think it is right down the alley of the type of stuff that Colin Hurley and his parents have been all about in their development of him. There has always been a plan. Really good for recruits to see.
Hope we do it for all our positions not just the qb. The individualization of it is great.

The nega-tiger will say we had to recruit him back, so we don't like our QB options.

The posi-tiger will say it shows a clear path to develop him better and help him improve himself and his draft stock.

From a story on the TD homepage LINK

quote:

"When Jaden made the decision to come back, I think there were a number of things that were on the table for discussion," Kelly said.

"You start with physical development and how we can put together a plan for his strength and conditioning."

"We had to recruit him back. We had to give him a comprehensive plan for what we would do in the weight room. And how we would continue to develop him technically as a quarterback."

"And then utilizing the resources that we have here. We have VR, we have the ability to train year-round, and having receivers here for him."

"It was really just having a comprehensive year-round training program for him right here and then providing him the opportunity to do other things as well. He went out on the west coast and trained with other elite quarterbacks and we provided him with the contacts to do that."

"It was about continuing the development of a quarterback at that stage. And when we met with him, and he saw that we had a compressive plan, it helped him make his decision."

I think Jayden can win a heisman if he simply trusts his receivers

CBK statements on the development plan for Jayden

When you make a thread with this as the title, the people that click it are probably expecting to read the statements made by BK. Not your thoughts on statements that aren't provided.

Not saying Daniels is going to be another Burrow, but remember what a full off-season plus putting the right pieces in place for him to succeed did for Joe in year 2. Losing Boutte and Bech isn't going to really hurt because there wasn't a real connection with those guys in terms of the offense. Daniels has his main guys back, Nabers, Thomas, and Taylor, plus essentially the same RB corps once Emery figure out the academics.

Daniels is in a great position to really shine this year.

Coaches should be literally coaches. There are too many that didn’t really wear that coach title well. Coach the sport, coach some life lessons, be genuine and impactful.

Here's what OP is talking about:
quote:

After leading the Tigers to the SEC Championship and a 10-win season in his first year at LSU, quarterback Jayden Daniels returns to Baton Rouge for one final year.

His impressive 2022 campaign put him in a position to possibly declare for the NFL Draft, but head coach Brian Kelly laid out a development plan that helped Daniels make his decision to return to the team in 2023.

On Tuesday, Kelly talked about Daniels' re-recruitment back in December:

Daniels passed for 2,774 yards, with 16 touchdowns and just three interceptions last season. He also rushed for 818 yards and 11 touchdowns.
This, to me, shows that Kelly is the right guy to run this program.

We're talking about Daniels, who is from Cali and started out at Arizona State. He has no real ties to LSU or La, so no sentimental reason to stay a 5th season. He's got every physical tool the NFL wants except bulk, and has shown he has the immeasurables, too. His best drives here at LSU have been when the game is on the line, do-or-die time. He's probably a borderline low-first to second-round prospect.

He needed a reason to stay in college another year, and Kelly laid it out for him. Kelly knows what Daniels needs to improve, both for LSU's play and for Daniels' future prospects in the pros, and he has addressed that.

I imagine if you investigated why Nussmeier stayed instead of transferring, you would find a similar answer. And that answer isn't "for LSU", it's "this is what you need to work on to improve, and this is how we can help you do that".

Stuff like that is going to play a huge part in drawing in the top players, and keeping them here instead of leaving early or transferring.

Anthony Richardson is being projected as a possible top 5 picks, at least 1st round.

Yeah Richardson sucks but physically he’s a freak

I think Daniels is so close to being an amazing QB and I think people underplay how legit fast he is. But he isn’t 240 like Richardson.

Kyler Murray and Lamar Jackson are both around 210. JD puts on at least 10 or 15 pounds and has the year I think he'll have, I can definitely see him being a day 1 pick.

He needs to get to 210 and he needs to take that next step and become a great passer.

Which I think Is possible.
