Right now in college football Saban is far and away the best HC in the game. I wish the "hardcore" LSU fans would realize those facts.

I lean towards Meyer now, actually.

Meyer doesn't have all the advantages Saban has, yet has won 3 titles in that same time frame.

Meyer also took a third string QB and beat your lord and savior last year in a playoff with his "slow 10" athletes.

For example, Michigan State pulls off a picture perfect 22 play drive to beat Iowa. A thing of beauty actually. Think a Les Miles coached team could pull that off? I guarantee one or several of the following will happen: a delay of game; a false start; a timeout after a delay; a completely botched play or two; substitution problems etc?

1st and 10 at LSU 5
(11:00 - 4th) Kenny Hilliard run for 2 yds to the LSU 7

Hardcore football fans know LSU has as many or more resources to win

LSU is # 3 in the nation in wins for the past 11 yrs.

While 8 L's in 2 yrs. is not acceptable at LSU, let's not pretend Miles and his staffs haven't put those "resources" to good use during his time at LSU.

As an LSU fan I would take playing OSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, MSU every year over the schedule we have....not that I want out of the SEC but I think we would have more wins

people think that with the resources has (facilities, recruiting base, and competive with coaching salaries) there is no reason LSU shouldn't have the same expectations as Alabama has.

LSU has hired one coach since we locked down the recruiting in state, been willing to pay top $ for coaches, and upgraded the football facilities to some of the best in the nation...so don't act like this is the same program as it was in the 80's & 90's.

they just will never get this...they are too afraid to think it will go back to the 80's...sure it can happen, but not likely...little different for southern warm weather schools now, kids wanna play down here, not up in the cold. Highest paid staff in the country should not lose 4-5 games every year for 3 years. I just hope LSU has an outstanding year, wins it all, and Miles retires and we have a great coach in place by this time next year to keep recruiting. I hope Miles doesnt take this as he see's himself as invincible... I hope he is humble enough to look at himself in the mirror and say you know what, i think i need to reconsider some things... time will tell.

I think we would too. Just think the big 10 was pretty good this year, especially compared to previously.

not to mention back in the 80's and 90's we lost recruits to Nebraska, ND, Michigan, Miami because they were great and on TV every week...now every team is on TV and kids don't need to leave the state to play on TV

Or could it be that some people realize how long it takes coaching to show up on the field. How 18 and 19 yr old lineman in their first or second year will, more times than not, struggle against 3rd and 4th year players. How a young QB starting his first year will have up and down moments. Will rush throws and get confused often. How having a new Defensive Coordinator with some different terminology will cause break downs and confusion. How lack of depth on the defensive front 7 will cause problems. How 3 losses is what most people expected before the season started. Just a thought

This. All of this. As much as most of the negas hate to hear this, some people realize that sometimes it just isn't your year and the following year shows great promise. Especially when some of your younger players get that time to develop more. I think after the last four weeks of this season, our team comes out focused and hungry, very hungry. And with a chip on their shoulder to prove something to the country and some of our fans who, right now, don't really believe in them.

Not what I said.

However, with all of the built in advantages that Saban has at Bama, I often wonder how he doesn't go unbeaten and win the SEC every year.

Hes has, far and away, the best talent (see Rick Daddy's chart from one of the other threads). He has a Bama alum that sees to it he gets an easier schedule than his SEC rivals in SEC play, and Saban NEVER has to worry about a drive-killing penalty. When Saban loses a game (only one undefeated season in his career despite all of these advantages), his losses do not count in the eyes of the media.

Name another coach that has all of those luxuries? Find me one.

Even when I look at the other Tier 1 Media Darlings (Notre Dame, Michigan, Florida, Texas, OU), I do not see that talent gap or those advantages.

So, now I lean towards CUM.

And there is only one Saban so what the frick do you do? Seriously, he is one person and he is not coming here. Get over what happened over a decade ago and live in the world as it exist rather than being pissed off that it isn't exactly the world that you want it to be.

I don't know about THE problem... but every time I talk with a casual fan, I hear the SAME old regurgitated Facebook Mom points about the Miles Situation.

"Would Jimbo really come here? The ACC is so easy."
"Winningest coach at LSU"
"We're not THAT bad"
etc.

SEC is pretty tough...getting 18-22 yr olds to show up for every game is also tough.

I am not so sure this is cut and dry like you say it is...NFL rosters prove we are on the same level correct?

I think they fill needs better than we do...which makes for a more complete team.

Wondering where all these hardcore football fans are when the 3rd quarter starts? Assuming all 45K of those who bothered to show up on a beautiful autumn day for an SEC league game in TS were said hardcore fans.
