That's what the media does in these instances. They guess. And, it's publicized. Some, including Rogers, have sources. But, they're really just ihaling smoke, digesting, researching, and trying to guess right on the next coach. One of them is probably going to be right, but not because they had any more inside info than they next...they just guessed right. Woodward is a sly motherfricker.

I think Woodward did the leg work and was fine with it.
I think Casey saw the potential to have to answer a lot of shite he didn’t want to at this point and decided to stay put in the place he’s spent most of his life.

I have heard the same thing.
ETA: I don't know exactly what the reasoning for this would have been, though. Pat Casey would also be a guy that you'd bring in, explain to the team what he accomplished, and let it serve as motivation. It may not have even been an interview type of scenario.
