The Pat Casey thing is almost certainly a tactical leak.

But yeah it's just some crazy speculation on my end as I don't believe Woodward is playing some 4D chess with this search.

these candidates are still in their season. dropping pat casey's name out there gives the media a snipe to hunt and takes heat off of actual candidates. Thats how I see it.
ETA: Imagine if Saban announced his retirement right before the SEC championship game. The press would go nuts.

LSU has to keep the new coaching info quiet due to the 2021 team still playing for a championship. How would it look for Landon Marceaux to land in Knoxville and instead of being asked about pitching to the Tennessee lineup he is asked about LSU’s new coaching hire and if he thinks the assistant coaches will still be here next year?

This week? Very possible.
It’s also very possible “our guy” is still playing.
However, if “our guy” is done next week and LSU is in Omaha, the timing may not be able to wait. Word may get out (no official press conference until after LSU is done), but a new coach will have to let his current school know and get the ball rolling on his coaching staff and recruiting.

Did Woodward know that was the case? Regardless of that, O earned the chance to he whomever he wanted after the season he had in 2019. I don't see how anyone makes an argument against that. Woodward's only job at that point is to get O's choice signed, which he obviously did.

The only reason you're made about any of the above is because you trusted some "insider" knowledge coming from national guys. Stop taking everything you read as gospel and perhaps you won't be so frustrated with the process.

The Heimlichs decided to have Luke quietly and quickly plead guilty to reduce the stress on the family. Both parties were minors at the time. The only reason the story became public years later was because of a clerical glitch somewhere(or something like that).
Heimlich, at that point, had been in the program 2 years and was a team leader and PAC12 pitcher of the year. He told Casey that he was not a predator and only took the plea to reduce the stress on the family. He took himself off of the team in 2017 when the story broke and went undrafted. He even took a lie detector to prove to the staff that he was telling the truth and passed it. Casey took him at his word and allowed him back in 2018. That was Casey's crime.
Needless to say, his pro prospects were ruined and last I heard, he was playing Kenny Powers ball in Mexico. Looking back, that 2018 title run was the apex of his baseball career and he has Casey to thank for it.
