Ok Doc. My Healing Place prayer came through. You remember I prayed for a quarterback to show up. Perhaps you should reconsider your position on God.

Earlier in the year when given the chance Lee played clearly better

He played great in spurts. But it seemed the more he played, the worse he played.

Was Lee anymore or less terrifying than JJ?

Yes, but only because he doesn't have that added dimension in his game of running the ball. Jefferson is not the greatest running QB in the world, but I do think that "breaks the tie" between he and Lee.

Luckily it worked out for the better, at least we think so.

You're right. We think so, but we'll never know.

FWIW...this is the only thing I have disgreed with LSU on.

I think you meant Les, but i agree. But I was pissed earlier this year that Lee wasn't starting myself. But I think it paid off sticking with Jefferson.

True, but IMO the biggest difference with him tonight is that if the primary guy wasn't open, he didn't dawdle in the pocket. He took off running. THAT he can do well. Also, he stepped up into the pocket a couple of times to throw.

I realize that JJ has limitations, but he can scramble well and he does pretty well on rollouts. If he would have been more decisive about running during the season AND if the staff would have called to his strengths, he would have been much more effective this year.

Lee is more terrifying. The dude cannot move. Pocket passers can always be found by the defense because they are always in the same place. JJ can and has taken off and run for MANY first downs to keep drives alive. Lee will stand in the pocket and fold like a cheap lawn chair.

No question that Mr. Jefferson played a very good game and his best in an LSU uniform. So far as I am concerned it does little more than underscore his well below average play for THE PAST TWO(2) SEASONS!

Sorry, but one game a QB does not make. If the QB competition is not full throttle open this spring, etc, then why recruit Mettenberger? If Mr. Jefferson really has "grown" as a QB, then great, but I remain skeptical at best.

Also, the Defense, especially PP and Mr. Nevis looked awful.

Mett is better, but JJ is a sr. if miles stays i cannot see him benching a sr. starter. JJ has improved but mett is better exp. if we run a pro. offense

You act like we had a better option sitting on the bench

Vandy 8-20 96 yds 0 TD 1 INT
Miss St 10-16 96 yds 0 TD 0 INT
WVU 10-22 75 yds 0 TD 2 INT
TENN 3-10 30 yds 0 TD 2 INT
FL 7-12 100yds 0 TD 1 INT
McNeese 5-8 28 yds 0 TD 0 INT
Auburn 8-14 48 yds 0 TD 0 INT

Lee

His first three games

Tenn 16-23 185 yds 0 TD 1 INT
FL 9-11 124 yds 2 TD 0 INT
McNeese 9-14 75 yds 0 TD 0 INT

after this he played very sparingly

Yea we did have a better option. His name is TC McCartney, do you think he would have done worse (strictly passing) than 0 TD's 6 int's??

I'm joking about McCartney but give me a break

Well, it might just be thatan experienced JJ has adjusted to the speed of the thought processes required to be successful in the SEC. Hope so. And he is a running threat...but inconsistent on passing accuracy.

Regardless, with Mett coming in, and with the showing of the young guys last nite...looking pretty damn good for next year.

I think we all realize that we were just a hair's width, from beating Auburn and Arky...and that hair was decent QB play, in the clutch, to keep the offense on the field. And if we had...yall know where we would be.

Next years QB play, might be anywhere from the Matt Flynn version of good enough to win...to superlative.

I'm pumped already.

You really want to see LSU open against a NCG team with a cherry QB, to FBS ball, leading the way???

Been there and done that in 08 and not eager to go there again.

And with all due respect to Juco ball...pleaseeeee!

The next few months will certainly be interesting.

Unlike most fans, I'd actually like to see Mett play (in an SEC game) before I make a judgment. If the kid is all that we hope he is, I can see him taking the starting spot if JJ plays the way he did early in the season. But honestly, I don't think our offensive problems are solely (or even primarily) on the QBs.

Agreed. Mett may be the next Cam Newton, but we have nothing (NOTHING) to base this on right now.

ETA: And if the JUCO NC is any indication, he still needs a good amount of work.

THERES no way METT comes in an STARTS.
Not only Miles but any other Coach in College Football would Bench him.
believe he would see couple series a game.

bottom line, its gonna be his to lose....

Yes, even with jj's best game it was still just a good game not a great one. Jj will still get plenty of snaps. If we do get a new oc then depending on the offense he might see less pt.

I've nto seen Mett play yet.
But I've seen LOT's of JJ.
My memory is longer than the last game.
JJ had a nice nite and two very good TD passes!
I look forward to Mett leading LSU's offense for the next two yrs. Any predictions about when he first starts or regularly starts is speculation.
However, I think it's a safe to say he has a great opportunity to take over before mid season 2011.

No. I don't think the guy will ever play for LSU. He'll transfer out after a year of riding the pine. JJ is the starter until he graduates. Mett 'll go grope elsewhere.

I think he will start JJ out of loyalty. I mean this year there was plenty of times when JJ wasn't performing too well, and the truth is I think Barrett Bailey could of come in and possibly done really well. Bailey has speed, smarts, he cool in the pocket, and he can really throw the ball. It's a real shame that mett is coming, not that he won't be good but that we most likely will never be able to see what Bailey could have done. I just could of seen him being another Flynn and coming off the bench after a few years in the shadows to really run our offense.
