I know its heresy here, but forcing the ball to #10 is one of the many problems with our offense.
Yes we are forcing it to him instead of snapping it to him.

Play calling with Shep this year has been worse than last year. If they can find a hybrid bewteen this year and last year, I would be ok with it. Just because he is playing a different position doesnt mean he cant do everything he did well last year (like read option at QB and Wildcat).

If you OL cannot block, it wouldn't matter if your QB was Mike Vick - he'd still be running for his life.

It won't happen because it may just work. This coaching staff does not explore ways to improve the offense.

within the first 2 drives, Jefferson could have handed the ball to Shep for big gains, but instead he kept hte ball himself on BOTH plays.
I cant help but think it was because he was trying to do too much himself, knowing he was coming out after the 2nd drive. But Shep would have had nice gains had JJ given him the ball each time.

i know you were talking to the other poster but i was trying to say that most of the time they were running the zone read...yes, i know they ran the wildcat as well but most of the time its power zone read...
They are basically the same thing. One is just ran with the QB, there is no special package there where a RB comes in exclusively to run that formation.
Auburn just keeps the QB in the game because he can run it just as effectively. People just dont freakout because they dont change personnel. "OH HEY HERE COMES THE WILDCAT!!"
its the same thing pretty much

You need to take your blinders off. He hasn't broken a single tackle or made one guy miss this season. That isn't a good thing for a QB that is going to run the ball into the heart of the defense.

^^This - Cam Newton is a beast.

We have a lot of talent that needs to be used systematically. #10 just happen to be another source of wasted talent. Its a crying shame because #10 is a big play waiting to happen.

Meh..
A rb lining up at the QB position isnt necessarily the indicator of the "wildcat" but rather the O-line alignment. As stated before, in Auburn's case a balanced line is the zone read and an unbalanced line is the wildcat.
Balanced = T G C G T = zone read (in Auburn's case)
Unbalanced = TE G C G T T = wildcat (in any case)

This
Cam is their best runner, hence the reason he runs both the zone read, zone read play action, and the wildcat.
Most schools put their best running threat at the Qb position and their next best at the jet motion position. Auburn's best runner happens to be their QB.

auburn runs a power zone read, not the wildcat. and when you have a QB is a true dual-threat like Newton, it works a lot better. but most people complain about JJ's inaccuracy, what makes you think Shepards will be any better?
Didnt say anything about shepard playing qb... said your an idiot for saying the wildcat is not being used anymore when Auburn killed us with it... The plays run saturday by Auburn were the same plays Arkansas ran in 2007, called by the same offensive coordinator... call it whatever name you want, like I said already you are arguing semantics...

my point is, the wildcat is a zone read, just without a QB running. And yes, the base wildcat features an unbalanced power line, but that really is the only variance.
the principals are the same, and the outcome generally is the same.

In the closing seconds of the game you could tell that RS and Randle along with other young players were upset and disgusted. For example Randle could have went to Auburn but he stayed home for this? Something has to be done becuase the players face's tell it all, they are not stupid they are thinking the same things we are.
