Nuss and Daniels are both exactly what common sense told us they were.

Nuss is feast or famine

Daniels is conservative with no dumb mistakes.

Logic says with this defense, you go with JD...a la les miles formula.

I think it’s the routes as well. Seems to take a long time for our WR’s to get open and create separation. You have to loosen up that outside coverage with some slants and digs to the middle. We did that all the time in 2019 with Jets on shallow to medium crossing routes. Then we would hit Chase in a fade. I don’t understand our passing game strategy right now but Denbrock needs to get it fixed because SEC defenses will feast.

ignoring how patently false this statement is given Nuss clearly played worse, I like how you say that as if FSU and Southern are on par with each other.

Imagine playing that poorly against Southern and people still make up things out of mid air to defend and excuse things

I was a huge proponent of Nuss last season and was really excited to see what he would do this off-season, fighting for the starting job.

Last night was concerning, to say the least. He either can’t read a defense post-snap or is entirely too trusting of his arm. He has a cannon but makes some of the worst decisions I’ve ever seen from a QB, at any level.

…has the talent to play at this level

How can anyone possibly say this? There’s more to playing QB than having a strong arm. The driving ranges of America are filled with kids who hit it further than Tiger ver did. Can’t break 90 when the chips are down.
Give it up. This young man never showed he had the talent. To the contrary, he never came close.
Sorry for the armchair talent scouts who think throwing the long ball in practice is the same as playing QB. He def does not have the talent to play QB. Give it up.

I didn’t say anything about FSU and Sourhern being on par. FSU is way better than Southern. But Daniels played with our 1st string against FSU. Nuss played with a mix of 2nd, 3rd and walkons against Sourhern. Our 3rd string this year is weak due to poor depth and our walkons are on par with Southern’s starters.

Daniels looked bad for 3 quarters against FSU as a QB, but great as a RB. Daniels looked very good in the 4th quarter against FSU’s prevent defense, but he made some really good plays for which he deserves credit. Then he looked great against Southern with our starters.

Nuss made 2 bad decisions, and maybe a 3rd, but he looked good as a QB on most of the plays. He was accurate on most throws when his receivers finished their routes. Those backups dropped multiple passes. Also, Nuss was playing with a musical chairs lineup of linemen and RBs. He clearly made some dumb decisions, and if he can’t make better decisions to protect the ball, then he won’t be successfull, but I saw potential. I saw a player that didn’t want to give up on any play. I saw the gunslinger. However, gunslingers also get killed due to risk taking. By far the biggest concern with Nuss is his decision making. He is very talented, but I don’t know if that is fixable. He can be great, if he can correct that.

Nuss panics! He can't simply throw it away and fight another day!
