Can Verne's replacement simply call us LSU?

Sure, it is technically Louisiana State University, but I personally like how we are one of the very few who are known by our acronym, LSU.
I know, it might seem silly, but Verne seemed to go out of his way to say the longer words.
Maybe it was his age.

Uh, Brad Nessler is arguably the greatest college football play-by-pay announcer in the business. Soooo...you might want to learn his name. He has covered LSU on multiple occasions over the years.
And yes, he has always referred to us as LSU.

I liked "Touchdown, Louisiana State University."
And maybe you've never heard of BYU, SMU, TCU, USC, UCLA, UNLV. People use those acronyms pretty often.

I think you have it backwards. Announcers use the acronyms, but don't often say Southern Methodist University, or Texas Christian, or University of California Los Angeles, or Nevada Las Vegas.
The OP doesn't like when Verne says Louisiana State University. And I don't either, to be honest.
