I have seen so many pre-season articles regarding how good TAMU is going to be this year. I feel as if people are more confident in them than last year. I was under the impression that they were replacing a lot of starters. Am I incorrect?

Last year was their best team in a decade. They still haven’t been to Atlanta. They will be 8-3 or 7-4 back where they always are. I just don’t see it.

I agree. They are replacing 4 o-linemen and a qb that was a four year starter. Not to mention he was a four year starter and they averaged 234 passing yards a game. Just doesn’t seem like they are bound to be better than last year.

LINK

They have Mizzou and USCe out the East, play Auburn, Bama, MSST, and Arkansas in Texas. Only go on the road in conference to OM and LSU.

I still see 3 losses there.....

Are you not familiar with these folks? They are college football’s off season national champs 72 years running. It’s not only the greatest dynasty in the history of sports, it’s the greatest dynasty in history

Because media needs someone they think can have sustainable success against the machine that is Alabama. A&M is on an upward swing in some people’s eyes.

They have a good DC but outside that, they really need to prove consistency. It's mostly based on the assumption Jimbo has the ship righted with them which I don't think this is true. They lost too many players. I think they're going back to same ole mediocre TAMU again this year unless they can do better than expected at QB.

It mostly hinges on offense I believe as their DC has been pretty consistent. It's actually funny they went in hard to fix their defense problems and did a good job there yet that's not their problem. Their problem is Jimbo's offensive philosophy and his inability to develop them a QB. As long as he keeps the same offensive philosophy, it's not going to work. He needs to evolve his scheme with NCAA.

Schedule doesn't get any softer than theirs in SEC.

Not really, it’s baffling. They went 10-1 last year but were arguably not much improved from the team that went 7-5 the previous year, and yet, no one in 2019 came away with the opinion that Texas A&M was a good team. It’s a 10-1 record taken totally out of context

I guess the hype really just boils down to how bad 5 of the SEC West teams were in 2020 and in comparison, Texas A&M truly looked superior to everyone but Bama.

It’s shocking though that anyone who actually watched them last year would come away thinking “this is definitely a top 20 team,” much less a top 5 team and the rest of the SEC should watch out for aggy.

Yep, I've been living around them for years. It's comical and like clockwork that they start getting hyped up during the off season. Without fail, they are always the champions of the over the summer hype championship.

This year they are a little ahead of schedule. They usually reach peak talking about how good they will be sometime in August. Txags must have gotten the rumors of their upcoming greatness started a little early this year.

People still think Jimbo is the next Saban for whatever reason. Jimbo is a really good coach but he is still overrated to an extent.

Rough to get “better” when this happens.

Now replacing a 4 year starter at qb…in this case may be addition by subtraction.

The 2021 season will mark a full decade in the conference for them. What have they done in that time?

Beat Bama once. Beat LSU twice and made commemorative cups.
