I full expect most smaller college football programs to go defunct for 2020. The question will be how many return after the pandemic. Might be a few less teams playing both FCS and FBS ball in 2021.

No. Nicholls State's athletic department budget will be shredded and they will have to make cuts.

nothing against Nicholls but sports are an extracurricular
activity. these small schools need state money plus big school payouts to field teams. it sucks but it won't be the end of the world if they have to suspend sports for a year. hell, it's wasn't that long ago when southeastern disbanded their football team and they are playing again.

the state is also losing revenues so, imo, they should not make up shortfalls for non essential classes. it sucks but shite happens. we are spoiled as frick. in the words of a friend of mine....."life sucks and then you die". deal with it.

just another conspiracy theory. who the hell gets sucked in to those any more. grow up. "everyone is out to get me" is really bull shite and juvenile.

Actually people are starting to realize the social standard of "the loony conspiracy theorist" is the loony part. You can clearly make out what the motivation of the left and media is.

The second tier and many I-AA athletic departments are dependent on the millions they get from the D-1 matchups. Afraid many will be forced to step down a level, or even two and unfortunately just shut down athletics. Really feel for the number of kids that will miss the opportunity to play college sports.

That would be stupid! Not only would it cost them money but they would lose before it even got to court! They will not force schools to honor these contracts when player’s safety is at risk

I agree with you but your rationale won’t stop the lawyers from trying !!!!!

I mean, “no offense” but I’ve spoken with several people in businesses around this state and all prefer hiring Nicholls business grads over LSU. Not to mention the culinary and nursing programs. As others have stated, UNO should merge with Nicholls. The land for expansion is absurd.

Why shut down Nicholls and not Southern. LSU is right across town. Of course you know why.

Same with LA Tech and Grambling.

My father grew up 'down da bayou' and could not afford to go to LSU. He worked while he went to Nicholls State while living in Napoleonville and ultimately became a successful cardiologist.

Seems to me SEC schools would have to honor their financial commitment if they indeed play a conference schedule.

Would be nice for Coach O to arrange a bus trip for Nicholls to come play in BR. That simple!

Feel bad for the Non-Power 5 Conferences & FCS

UNC had 37 cases that = 5 players Testing positive...Case numbers seem misleading compared to actual players that have it. Then there are the FALSE positives...

If SEC goes to conference games only?

Look, I get the fact that we're all here mostly because of LSU football and various other sports, but universities exist to provide education. No matter how much we love them, sports are are extra-curricular activities that, if they are successful, supplement the coffers of a given institution.

I think a big issue with our nation currently is that many, including myself frequently, look to our universities as a source of entertainment rather than supporting them academically.

Vanderbilt may not offer much on the athletic field, but DAMN, they are highly respected as an academic institution, and a degree from that school in Nashville carries a bit of weight for its graduates.
