This will never happen good lord. LSU is one of the most valuable brands in college sports. The SEC would never give them the boot for how much money they pull in from LSU.

We bring a massive fanbase, television audience and NIL sharing to the SEC. If sankey and executives want to ruin the SEC then kicking out LSU would do the trick.

There was 40 players in this court order across all different sports and when other SEC schools start pursuing and taking these players as well then what will the SEC do then? Kick everyone out the SEC??

Our pockets are deep and they will fight this case in federal court and it'll be fine.

I don’t understand how one court could you in contempt for not rostering players, and then another could enforce penalties retroactively for said rostering. Seems like they should be allowed to play until the verdict of the suit in Bama.

You really underestimate how much the rest of these schools despise LSU.

We could stop if the sec started making wise decisions. It’s a very bad move to sue a member institution, it’s even worse to do it over some arbitrary line, that is also something LSU didn’t create, we weren’t the suing them it was individual players that we don’t control.

Once you look at how bad Sankey has driven the sec car straight into the ditch it’s possible he would be dumb enough to kick out a founding member

Not to mention the ensuing conference realignment that would occur with other big boy programs around the country joining whatever conference LSU would move to. Imagine LSU gets kicked out of the SEC. Guarantee the Big 10 would open its arms.

You'd then have programs like Miami, FSU, perhaps Clemson, joining the Big 10 also. That would be a hell of a super conference at that point and the money deals would be insane. The SEC would wither away.

I agree there is very little chance of LSU and SEC separating.

But, on the small chance SEC wins a court case and decides to fine LSU $25 million dollars, half our football budget, I’d imagine and would want our leaders to start exploring options.

I can't wait to see what the students start chanting tomorrow night. Other than Neck, I'd imagine they're going to have some funny shite directed at the SEC or Sankey.

They can. But if the court in Bama rules them ineligible, and the SEC agrees, which they will, the games the players played will be forfeited.

If LSU wants to leave the SEC on it's on note then I don't care. LSU brand is big enough to do whatever they want but the SEC will never "kick out" LSU.

What is 25 million to LSU at this point. We throw around money like nobodies business. Donors will come together and come back up with that 25 like nothing happened.

Not from a revenue standpoint. Certainly not in the short term.

If they kicked us out, they would have to redo their media deals and would get less money than before so that would hurt them badly. There isn’t a replacement equal to us they can realistically get especially if they kicked us out over this.

The big 12 and acc would both get new deals by having LSU as their marquee program.

Play out every option and it's bad for LSU.
Big 12 - Boring. Oklahoma State and Texas Tech are your big games.
ACC - Fla State and Clemson are already trying to leave.
Big 10 - Exciting but it's pretty far away and they may not want to stick it to the SEC now that they are co-leading the NCAA.
Independent - Give me a break. LSU plays Navy, Purdue, and Kansas State because no SEC schools will play them. After a few years, people stop going to boring games.

There is NO good outcome to leaving the SEC as much as I'd like to shove it up their arrogant sixes.

You do know the Birmingham Clown Show just sued LSU in Federal Court, right?

If Sankey and the SEC ever tried to capriciously enforce the absurd punishments they are flaunting against LSU, LSU would absolutely look to sever ties. Especially given the absurd circumstances.

In fact, given the current Birmingham asininity and now the lawsuit, I suspect exploratory conversations will occur with other conferences, if they haven't already.

Do I want LSU to leave the SEC? Nope. Do I want LSU to have its "i's" dotted and "t's" crossed regarding best options if the SEC continues with its stupidity? Absolutely!

This is the kind of FAFO situation that can swerve out of control in a hurry.

You forget the tv contract. LSU’s ratings are through the roof. TV would void the current contract

Why would they? Unless it is expressly required by the contract. I do not know if it is.

Ultimately, though, LSU is not getting kicked out of the SEC.

LSU having the 25 million isn’t the issue. The issue is that is a big enough fine to get political people involved due to LSU being a public institution. The question becomes, and rightfully so, what authority does a publicly unelected person over a private organization have to install a multi million dollar fine on a public state run organization.

Years ago, my Dad gave me a piece of valuable advice that I’ve always tried to live by: NEVER let your emotions override your wallet.

The SEC would do well to take heed.

One call from Wade Rousse and Richard Lipsey goes and gets the key to the petty cash box.
