20lbs would be ideal. I'm not saying it's critical but it's definitely important.

I think it's certainly beneficial for him to put on a few pounds, but I don't think for one minute that his weight had anything to do with his playing time this year.

Only way I see him being able to add that much weight is if we bring in Bielema as the QB coach to show him the way.

YES!
Brennan reported in June at 6'4" 185 lbs. He started Fall camp at 195 lbs and at the bottom of the depth chart. In 4 short weeks he earned the primary back up QB position and held it the entire year. And yes if he were 210lbs+ he starts every game after Troy...He will weigh in at 210lbs in Spring and will be a force to be reconed with in 2018...

Why do you think this? Would he magically be adjusted to the speed of the college game, making reads, etc. with ~15 more pounds on him?

Having more muscle on him will help absorb/shake off contact that he takes during a game. Remember a Brennan has to be able to endure a SEC schedule with NFL freaks running at him all game. He'll probably gain some arm strength with a stronger core as well.

I'm sorry, but I just refuse to believe that 10-15 lbs of added weight is what stood between him being our permanent starter. If it was, then our coaches are fricking stupid. If the guy is mentally there and can make all the throws, he should be starting. Period. If an SEC DL or LB squares him up good, they're gonna cause some damage, I don't see really see what difference 10-15 lbs makes in that instance. And of course I agree that adding weight is a good thing for arm and core strength, obviously. I just can't get behind the notion that he was our best QB but didn't start because he needed 10-15 lbs of added weight.

Hopefully he fills out the same way B Harris did. There weight situation is like the exact same. B Harris came in around 185 and was like 220 by the time he transferred.

Gaining weight has zero to do with arm strength. I was a buck 50 in HS and had a cannon. Dudes I played with were 195-220 and had to play 1st & 2nd because they didn’t have an arm.

Weight should be the least of his worries honestly.
