Well thank the lord games are decided each week by points scored and not fricking completion percentage, amirite?
Quit getting hung up on shite like this. The more he gels with the offense, the better his completion percentage will get.

Well that'd be a historic season to say the least if a team could be that successful in the modern era with a QB completion percentage that low.
In reality, that completion percentage has got to get better.

Do you think our record going forward will be better if Burrow completes 48% of his passes or 60% of them?

Career Stats
He is at 56% if you count just the little bit he played at Ohio State. I'm pretty sure he will be in the high 50s to low 60s by the end of the year.

Oh and for the record Auburn won the SEC in 2013 with Nick Marshall having a completion percentage of 59.4%, baw.

what if he is 70% in the games you're thinking we will lose?

Next year could be special if the defense restocks well. We return almost our entire offense.
Schedule sets up nicely for next season too

Because 48% aint going to do it every game....you disagree with that?

He was 60.4% after the SEC Championship Game.

I don't know why people are going out of their way to understand this point.
There's a reason cramming for tests isn't recommended. It may work for you once or twice but over the long run it's going to burn you.
Was watching film study with Jimbo and he preaches the process, because he says when you have success for the wrong reasons or in spite of subpar play, that never lasts.
The passing has to get better and I expect it to. It's going to burn us eventually if it doesn't.

Depends, how many of the 48% vs 60% of passes either scored or put us in position to kick a field goal?
You do realize percentage points aren't actual points on the scoreboard, right?
Obviously we all want to see higher completion percentages, but to act like he has to hit some arbitrary number in order for us to win ball games is just dumb.

You do realize that Alabama won national championship with a QB that was completing less than 48%!!

If you'd told me that was the percentage at this point, prior to the first game, I'd have guessed LSU would be 1-2.
Not ideal. I don't expect it to continue at that pace. But, just because I wouldn't BET on a thing doesn't mean a thing CAN'T happen.
The good news is that Joe is calm enough to make the 3rd and 7 pass. So, he can throw on 1st (incomplete), running play gains 4, complete on 3rd and 6 for a 1st down. 50%...but, move the chains.
Again, I expect better and believe it will be needed. Just, not impossible.

Burrow is well over 60% on 3rd & 8 or longer

He really needs to Torch the Tech D.

Because even during our good stretches, JJ would be like 8/11 and we'd kill teams.
Just didn't throw it that much after 08.

If the WRs get better, sure.
Let me rephrase: If the WRs continue progressing, YES.
If the OL continues to progress, and adjusts as opponents find weaknesses (because they are there, and they will find them)- then it will happen even faster.
The theory I'm basing my statements on: If the OL is full of studs and he can hold the ball for 5-7 sec (which is studly), he's still gonna run it for 4 yds when the WRs give up on routes, sit down 3 yds from a baiting safety or have gotten so close to the boundary to present an ineffective window.
ETA: we all, myself included, tend to forget the drops that plagued us in 2012. Yes- Landry and OBJ. Until that stopped (thank you Moffitt) Mett struggled.
