I expect improvement, but the problem is what you already said... Harris' inability to supplant AJ. Obviously, AJ is at his best is an average QB. All the things you said... Arm strength is average, speed average and decision making is average. If Harris can't win the job with elite arm strength and good speed, then his inability to learn and be coached is extremely poor. I really think the coaches know it's Harris' job, but want him to stay hungry and vigilant throughout camp. I suspect he will be named the starter publicly a couple weeks before the season starts.

And this surprises you? How long have you been watching Miles handle the QB's at LSU?

I didn't say anything about the best. Spoke of the way that he has handled the situation.

There's a reason true freshmen rarely come in to a top program and start from day one.

That's the problem. Les's definition of 'better' is not mine or yours. His is the one who will do less, make the least mistakes, be the least creative, and conform to the party line. Ours is the one who is a leader, puts the team on his back, creatively drives the offense, takes some chances, makes some mistakes.

it'd be really nice to RS franks and not let him play until his 3rd season.
Why? What are your expectations for QBs in their first two years?

Do you expect QBs to play better after their first two seasons?

I do hope this is sarcasm.

If Franks is the real deal and he earns the job, he needs to play. I imagine he'll want to play. Now, I have no real problem redshirting him, but sitting him another year and waiting for year 3 is silly. If he's the real deal, he'll only be here for 3 years anyway.

Contrary to the nonsense on this board, guys can play with little or no experience. Johnny Football and Winston both won Heismans as RS freshmen.

Your definition of a QB sounds like Jay Cutler. Naw, I think we'll pass on that style.

Well he seems rather poor at using the information at his disposal every offseason and coming up with an offense commensurate with a Top 10 program and Top 5ish salary. Deferring to him because he's the head coach gets you nowhere, because you can say that for any shortcoming or situation with poor performance.

"Well, I think Curley Hallman just might know a thing or two more about coaching a football team and analyzing game film than you do pal!"
