Using Shores as a model, I’d say he would have easily been a starter midway through SEC play…but started in the pen.
Shores started our opening weekend and went to the bullpen

I don’t want to tempt the baseball gods but imagine a starting rotation of Johnson, Shores, and Mayers in 2025.
I guess I haven’t been paying enough attention..who is Mayers again?

That’s awesome because you can never be too sure until he’s put there in February

Freshman of the Year. He's at Nicholls and from St Amant. Didn't want to transfer this year. People think he might transfer for his money year

Aah..gotcha thanks…I do remember now how good he was this year. I just wasn’t associating him with LSU. Would be a helluva staff if we get him

No one is going to completely replace Skenes. But it is entirely possible LSU will have a better staff overall than this year's group.
It is insane that that is even remotely possible, considering that we had, what, 8 pitchers drafted? Including Skenes, likely the best pitcher in college baseball in several years, possibly ever?
Wow!

Pretty wild! Any idea why on earth he fell so much farther than he was projected?

Likely because he held firm during the draft to the signing bonus value that he thought he was worth and clubs moved on to another prospect in that particular round.

It could very well be Shores, Johnson, and Victorian in 25...Jay has shown us that he's capable of getting kids to school that, for most coaches/programs, would've been no brainier draftees.
After two years and with the direction the program is headed, how could you say JJ isn't one of the best HC's in college baseball?

Coach Johnson proved he was one of the best this past season. How often has the pre-season #1 ranked team stayed ranked until the last month of the regular season, and then go out and prove to the rest of the nation that they are indeed the best on the biggest stage in Omaha?
Cameron Johnson should be an outstanding addition to what should be a solid pitching staff next season.

Possible. Not likely. We just lost 2 first rounders, with 1 of them being the most dominant pitcher in the nation. And Cooper caught some flack on here, but was pretty good in the post season. Next season's staff really took a hit losing Grant Taylor.
The staff will be solid and we aren't done in the portal.
