Needs it’s own thread

“Johnson becomes the highest-ranked prospect to make it to campus, passes on offer from the Cardinals.

Johnson’s father confirmed the news that he will enroll at LSU:

“He’s a Tiger at heart and extremely excited to play for Jay! Let’s Geaux!”

Is this kid a weekend relief guy his first year with some midweek starts or does he have the stuff to be a weekend starter as a rookie?

This is the highest ranked HS prospect to ever make it to LSU. Higher than Crews.

He's got Chase Shores level potential his freshman year. Could be reliever or starter depending on how the other arms shake out. Tremendous stuff from the left side.

I'm excited, but I also know it's not truly over until midnight July 25. He has true potential to go top 5 in the draft so developing at LSU and playing in front of the best fans with good NIL money will be a great experience. The good part is, we would have him for 3 years.

No one is going to completely replace Skenes. But it is entirely possible LSU will have a better staff overall than this year's group.

I've heard that his comparison in terms of his recruiting ranking is similar to Kevin Gausman (among those that actually made it to campus). Gausman started as a freshman but was not what he became in his sophomore season. I would suspect the bullpen would be where he would slot in, but who knows. Everything in college sports development seems to be accelerated these days.

Alex Lange is probably the outlier for most freshmen pitchers, but who's to say Johnson can't come right in and dominate just like Lange?

Great get. This is first vid I’ve watched of him. More raw than I thought he’d be as high as he was projected. Unlimited potential. Get him in the Lab and prosper.

If he's got a hammer slider like Lange does, he can play at an elite level in any league.

It is about time LSU gets a LHP of this caliber make it to campus. Throws up to 100 mpg from the left side, that is very exciting for this teams future. Will be holding my breath until July 25th.

After watching that PG video, he definitely has the stuff to come in and dominate. Three solid pitches. Heater looked nasty and his breaking ball had a lot of movement. Hit it pretty consistently.

I will breath a sigh of relief after the MLB signing day has passed.
