Les primarily wants to do 2 things: Limit turnovers, and control time of posession. My modern example is the Seattle Seahawks of the last 3 years. They have dominated opponents with a power running game, a mobile QB, and a great 3rd down conversion rate. They mix up the run and the pass, have dyamic athletes on the outside, and still have a dominant power running game... What we are doing now with Power-I formation and 2 WR at most is severely outdated.

Russell Wilson is 0-12 when his opponent scores 24+. Right now they are in the bottom half of the league in a few notable offensive metrics.

While your point is well taken about not losing our smash-mouth identity, I don't really want us emulating Seattle.

There has been some talk on the rant about Miles not quite being himself lately. Perhaps it's because he knows that Cameron's got to go. I assume that it would be Les's job to have to fire the coaches that would be let go, and that may be a little tough for Les since they have been such good friends for such a long time.

I cannot imagine why anyone would want Peveto back.

If Cam Cameron leaves you can forget about Felipe Franks coming here and the other younger QB he has committed here

If he stays and LSU continues to struggle, it will have the same effect.

I will say this. If Cameron's contract is not renewed, this is the stupidest and most damaging move to the program that can be made.

He's bringing in a top flight qb with others committed. Your not going to find a quality one year oc. He is one of the best oc's in football. Now, les has his hands tied to some degree but he is better than who replaces him. The man has developed randle el, grbac, brees, rivers, faco, and mett. Harris has shown a lot of improvement from last year. You let him go, he will have a nfl gig in no time. That is how bad he is. Just let the man do his job. He's been great at it for a long time.

Not to mention, you will face Frank's at Florida every year. Just stupid!

I am hearing that Les has to win 1 out of 2 to possibly be here next year and that's not for sure. Cam is gone and next OC will call plays without Miles. This is the part that might make Miles resign.

Miles needs to go, but this would do just fine, or maybe better. New OC with full control and Miles is still there to do what he does well (recruiting and program stability). I just don't believe Miles will be able to stay out of the kitchen however, after all the chances/OCs he's had.

Give Miles one more year with new OC would be ideal. Miles retires after next year if we don't win SECW minimum. He's had 10 years. We should start looking for a new HC now, so that we don't end up firing him and get stuck if nobody good is available that year.

Then in the meantime, what do you suggest be done about the stupid-arse playcalling and game planning?

Thats all part of the philosophy. By controlling the clock and playing good defense, very few of your opponents will score over 24 points. And if they do, you likely turned the ball over multiple times... Yeah I get your point, but they really kinda screwed themselves. They traded away a franchise offensive linemen to get a TE that does not fit in your offense, they refused to pay the good WRs that they did have in order to severely over-pay for a decent QB. The salary cap was their friend in the past, but not anymore. In the college game you can have good players at every position without worrying about contracts.

Since it is a forgone conclusion that these two are highly likely not to return next year. Who are we gonna target?

I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that either are gone.

is BDP leaving going to make that much difference with the offense? He doesn't call plays on the defense either. I can remember when LES pulled Leron Landry off special teams, and Landry was pissed. Bama plays it's 5 stars on special teams LSU doesn't. If you gonna blame someone then let him use all the players not the left overs!LINK

The philosophy is utterly stupid if you have the better players.

I'll give you an illustration:

Suppose you're playing a very good player at ping pong... but your own talents are quite poor in that area. In order to win, are your chances greater if you play to one point or to 21 points?

If you have better players the logical thing to do is to RUN MORE PLAYS, not fewer.

People need to understand that the philosophy is correct. The play calling is atrocious
I agree. Just look at what Jim Harbaugh is doing at Michigan with a pro style offense that is tight end heavy.

I'm ok with this....Cam needs to go BDP should go now Steele gets another year to make improvements. Go get Mawae and tell Grimes "bye bye" Raymond is on a short leash

By this happening the program slides downward! We haven't had a losing season in a long time.........we clean house after this year then you can expect some 5-7 and 6-6 years in the near future
