BTW, your comment makes me wonder what ever happened to guys like Luke Leto, Cale Lansville, and Connor Simon.
I believe these were all Freshman around 2022 that left the program.

“J” I’m sure still thinks the kid has plenty of potential. But you don’t play in potential. You play with work ethic, development, and results. Potential doesn’t mean shite if you don’t realize that potential. And until some of it is realized, they shouldn’t play. And this has nothing to do with Jay or LSU. That’s goes for every individual and program out there.

Highly touted freshmen that don't get significant playing time, regardless of the circumstances, are likely to transfer in the modern college landscape.

No I’m not a moron. But I do tell the truth. It seems that most of the people on this board think “J” can do no wrong. He won a Natty primarily with another guys recruits. He was LUCKY to get into the tournament this year. He swept the worse team in the SEC (Ole Miss) and then beat teams (UGA & Ky) that obviously weren’t in being there in order to make the NCAA tournament. When he gets back to hosting a regional at LSU and do it with HIS players, then I will give him his due. Cam Johnson was supposed to be a stud. Ought to bother all of us that he transferred.

Please objectively tell us how Johnson is “running the program into the ground.” LSU had a 40 win season and was 3 games away from the college World Series. They were 2 runs away from winning the SEC tournament. LSU is less than 12 months away from a fricking national championship.
I’m embarrassed to share a fanhood with some of you bottom feeders.

Yes agreed. Your point? You don’t play players though that can’t play yet. It’s on them to put in the work.

Simon medically retired.
Lansville went juco and is now in the minors.
Leto followed Fitzgerald to Kansas but is back in the portal after a couple bad seasons. He just never developed after his sophomore year in high school.

Also, none of us here can speak to the young man's work ethic. There is a big difference between pitching in front of 200 people and in a loud stadium of 8,000+. Some can handle the scrutiny and others cannot. What I'm saying is that a lot of the issues with Johnson could be in his head.

Funny how Jay’s predecessor couldn’t do shite his own recruits, but Jay won a NC with them.

We don’t win a championship without the base of talent already here, or the guys Jay brought in on top of it.

Coaches are not going to put a pitcher on the mound that can’t consistently find the strike zone. And even more so when we were basically in must win mode every game the second half of the season.

I never said that he didn't get his opportunities. He most certainly got his chances to prove himself this season, and it was obvious that he is not ready.

Yes an any team in the SEC would have taken him in a nano second. Baseball is hard. It doesn’t always work out.

You are being just as extreme. BTW, I don't agree with every decision Jay makes, but I still support him and think he's a fantastic coach.

He won a Natty primarily with another guys recruits.
This is an absurd take. First off to discredit him, because of players on the team is pathetic. There are other loaded teams in college baseball and LSU had to beat them all. LSU doesn't win a Natty without the guys Jay brought in. It took a mix of both. Why didn't the previous coach win more Natties with "his players." Again, LSU does not win the Natty last year without both.
Riley Cooper easily could have been the CWS MVP. Paul Skenes, Tommy White, Hurd etc. You don't win it without these guys. Also, he managed the arms perfectly when it mattered most, but by all means discredit his National Championship.
That's absolutely disgusting of you. I am trying to be nice, but that's a real POS take.
quote:
He was LUCKY to get into the tournament this year.
Turned the season around when it mattered most. You say he was lucky, but LSU didn't have any luck go their way the entire regular season. Like literally none. No good breaks where it gave them a game. If they had luck they would have won a few more SEC games and actually have been hosting a regional. Again, keep discrediting him.

He swept the worse team in the SEC (Ole Miss) and then beat teams (UGA & Ky) that obviously weren’t in being there in order to make the NCAA tournament.
Sweeping in the SEC is not easy. Even Tennessee did not sweep them.
This was an Ole Miss team fighting for their postseason lives as well who just took 2 of 3 from A&M. And don't tell me A&M wasn't trying their hardest to win that series against them after dropping the LSU series. I don't care what their record was. Sweeping Ole Miss was not going to be easy.
But keep discrediting what he did.
quote:
nd then beat teams (UGA & Ky) that obviously weren’t in being there in order to make the NCAA tournament
Georgia absolutely wanted to win to make sure they got a top 8. That's why their coach was so salty. Fortunately for them other teams did not step up and take it away from them, but there were very much on the bubble for hosting a Super.
LSU beat Kentucky 11-0. That's impressive on both hitting and pitching regardless how you feel about Kentucky's will. Kentucky beat Arky in their next game and put up like 9 runs on them. Pretty sure Kentucky hitters were trying against LSU and they got shutout.
Also, LSU made it all the way to the SEC Tournament and lost by 1 run to the #1 team in the nation. A team which almost everybody said would never have the pitching to make that type of run.
But keep discrediting what Jay accomplished with this team.
quote:

How nice of you. He will. Goodness man. They just came off one of the greatest seasons ever and lost a ton of veteran bats, but still fought like hell when it mattered most. Almost ended up hosting a Super.
quote:
Cam Johnson was supposed to be a stud.
He is projected to be great, but he wasn't there yet. And it looks like he isn't interested in being developed here. That's not on the coaches. It's not their fault he was raw and couldn't throw strikes.
quote:
Ought to bother all of us that he transferred.
He hasn't transferred yet, but probably will.

This GA Tiger dude may be the worst I've seen. He almost reminds me of Glenn Guilbeau, but not quite there yet. I don't understand how anyone can be that negative towards a coach that just won a national championship and didn't lose his team the following season when nothing was going their way. I think he deserves credit for both seasons.
I also think he deserves a ton of credit for his first season here. He inherited a team without a typical weekend SEC starter and he won like 17 SEC games. That's absolutely remarkable and doesn't get enough credit.
I feel like these Jay Johnson haters are always going to discredit the man. I'm so disgusted by these people.
