Our issue is that we never had a true quarterback coach on the field. Harris and others always had to go to a headset and speak with CC upstairs. I personally love the decision. Hopefully this leads to more fluent play calling and less delay of games/false starts.

I've always been a firm believer that plays are still coming straight from Miles and not Cameron.

This is good for Brandon Harris' mental stability.

Seems like a kid that might let bad plays get to his head more than they should. He needs that coach encouraging him to have a short memory and settle down.

Harris himself requested this, so you know he's excited about it.

It must be nice to have such a short memory.

I remember back at lease eleven years while LSU has won 112 games which puts us at #2 for power 5 conference teams, but I understand negative types have to be negative.

The idea that it's so much better if he calls plays from the sideline is goofy. It's because they tried that against TT, but I could have texted the plays in from my house in Tennessee for the game against Texas Tech. They couldn't stop the run and were doomed the minute the matchup was announced.

Unless there's a damned good reason not to, I'd rather have the OC in the box where he has a bird's eye view of the defense and can see where to exploit. No one has shown any evidence that Cam is some dynamic personality with such a calming influence that the offense will gain more than it loses by taking away the bird's eye perspective.

Is this supposed to be a put down? Like 99.9% of this board, no I haven't coached.

Sorry?

Not supposed to be a put down at all. Sorry if it came off that way. I was merely trying to say that it makes a bigger difference than most people would think having never had the experience. I only had the experience once at a very low level of football and it was very eye opening to me. Sorry again if i came off like a dick

I think for some it's the ill conceived notion Cam will take the playcalling away from Meddling Miles and prolly others are thinking "thats how we did it in HS/JV/Pop".
At this level the majority of OCs are in the sky and being their job is pending don't depend solely on spotters.

Fulmer had similar numbers at Tennessee, but instead of knowing when to part ways, they rode that thing into the ground and are still trying to recover.

Didn't he coach from the sidelines against Texas Tech? Granted their defense was bad, Brandon Harris looked really good and comfortable. I think this is a GREAT move.

You are shitting me, right? Fulmer never came close to an eleven year period where his teams ranked #2 for wins in the power 5 conferences. Plus, Fulmer didn't win an SEC title the last decade he was at Tennessee.

Fulmer had losing seasons two of his last four years. Les hasn't come close to a losing season. You need to try again. So far, you are striking out in all your at bats.

I prefer sidelines better.

Especially at this level.

Texas Tech game we didn't have the typical confusion and delay getting the right play in..

Also, the OC who is the QB coach can be more hands on with the quarterback and just a better instructor this way.

I also like OC's who are on the field because they seem to have a better feel for the play calling.. this is just an opinion though.

Hopefully Craig will be in the booth helping call the plays and analyzing the defense.

The difference is like trying to keep an eye on somebody at street level or from a balcony on Bourbon St Mardi Gras nite.
It's pretty difficult to see D cheating on position, matchup problems, etc and you'd have to trust another not to miss anything.
