Y’all really just running with the whole “he had to do it cause it would have been a shot clock violation” thing.

It’s just an absolutely meaningless thing. I can’t think of anything more meaningless than whether Gaines takes a shot clock violation or heaves up a ball to avoid it. Anyone spending time being upset about it is being super fragile.

In the grand scheme of things (you and everyone you know, will die one day), I suppose all college basketball is meaningless, but even if college basketball is of ultimate importance, I couldn’t imagine giving a frick whether Gaines heaves up a shot or takes the violation. Both are totally reasonable. It’s not like we ran a slick Princeton cut to sneak an extra basket.

C'mon, My Man. That's just sheer deflection. The rest of the post is the point:

The game has already been decided.
I guarantee each and every person - NOT one other team in America today shot a 3 pointer to avoid a Shot Clock violation with a double digit lead and less than 10 seconds left in the game.

Embarrassed for you. You really shouldn't post on sports boards.

My favorite thing about this is Gaines taking that shot represents everything these idiots hate when it comes to selfish, spoiled, no discipline, never told no AAU crap.

Wade knew that coach gave him the blow by and completely understood why. But people on here be like, “nothing to see here”.

Huh, and I thought you knew a little about things. Know any Coaches? Describe the situation accurately and ask them if they would approve of their player shooting the ball in that situation.
It's sportsmanship...you don't grind it in their face when the game is already decided with less than 10 seconds on the clock.
Why do you think WW apologized to Martin immediately? He even looked stunned it happened!

I understand that Cuonzo Martin’s feelings might be hurt. I just don’t really care that much.

Outstanding points, My Man. Wish I had thought to put it like that.

This is where all the LSU fans act like they wouldn’t be pissed if someone did that against them.
Even in games with backups and walk-on players in, everyone understands just take the violation, other team gets ball back and hands ball to official.
For me, this is more about Gaines than anything. That’s just who he is. Guy is an idiot. Might literally be the only player in college or pro basketball to take that shot.
Guaranteed even Wade is like, “or you really that stupid? Do I actually have to tell you not to take that shot?”
Spot fricking on!

You’re the one who made a thread bitching about someone throwing up a shot to avoid a shot clock violation and end the game. Eat a dick.
The post speaks to Sportsmanship, Competition, and Class. You appear unfamiliar with the concepts.

Kid threw up a prayer that happened to go in. Calling it "shooting a three" is really going out on a limb.

I don't know why it became cool to not play until the final horn. I know, old school geezer here. But this BS of dribbling out the clock for 15-20+ seconds is crap IMO.
I'm like Spurrier when someone complained about continuing to pass with a big lead. "If you don't want us to score in the 2nd half, you should play better defense"
Especially when you have some reserves in the game(not so much tonight though) why shouldn't a Parker "Too much time at Walk-On's" Edwards get to shoot a trey with 10 seconds left?

Doesn’t matter. You’re up 17, you take the violation and then Mizzou holds it for 2 seconds. That’s what happens 99% of the time in that situation. It’s like people don’t watch basketball.

Every other team in the country in the same situation today DID NOT shot the ball.

For one, most games don’t end with the shot clock and game clock being so close so chances are there were very few to no other teams who were in the “same situation today.” Secondly, there’s no way for you to know that because it’s impossible to watch every game. If there was another game with the exact same situation then you most likely didn’t even see it. Saying a team should stand there and take a turnover instead of ending the game is absurd. It’s not about sportsmanship at that point. LSU couldn’t help that they weren’t able to run the clock out by standing there. That’s just how the timing worked out at the end.
