You too? Ok, pay attention and read the post out loud to yourself.
I never said fan perception SHOULD have anything to do with it. I think basing decisions based on the way the fan base feels is a huge mistake but it happens.
Does anyone here think Joe Alleva did not take into account what the fan base wanted when coach O was being considered for the job?
#1 The fans seem to like him
#2 He will be cheaper!
#3 I cant land Jimbo or Herman
The first year coach O had freedom to do whatever he wanted. Now he has made it harder for himself with some of the bad loses, losing recruits, and the Matt Canada fiasco. Now he has more working against him. Not saying its right - just saying it is what it is.

ON PAPER Burrow is the best QB on staff. The limited stats point to that. The college football talking heads, meaning people smarter than I, and yes, even smarter than you as hard as that may be to believe say that too.
The videos out there available for these 3 guys seem to show Burrow playing the position at a more advanced level. There is plenty of stuff out there on Youtube for all 3.
THATS what I mean by on PAPER.

That’s all well and good but the coaches will make their decsiaion based on how all of the QBs perform IN PRACTICE, not how Burrow did in mop up duty at OSU or on how highly recruited and sought after he was 3 years ago. If he isn’t performing as well as others IN PRACTICE, I don’t care how good he is ON PAPER

Your post is still stupid. Great job

ON PAPER the Lakers should have beaten the Pistons with ease in the 2004 NBA Finals. The way that pieces come together to form the whole matters. The QB who performs the best will get the start.

I can't imagine why any fan would have wanted Alleva to hire O. He certainly didn't take my opinion into consideration.

I can see you have a problem understanding English also. Turn the TV down, take the headphones out of your ears and read the post again out loud - S-L-O-W-L-Y.
I never said anybody SHOULD do anything.
It's called a fricking observation. All kinds of decisions have been made with this program that dont make sense. I am just pointing this shite out tard.

I thought of that as well as "if you start listening to fans, you're gonna be sitting with them soon too."

Sorry Mr Cool, but suggesting Burrow would start because of the circumstances surrounding the program is the same thing as saying he should start. Maybe you should brush up on the English language yourself and adjust your post accordingly.

Also, I'm confused about what a TV and headphones have to do with this? Pretty sure 90% of the rant (including myself) is on here at work

Well, at least you're not completely incompetent. We can certainly agree on this.

I think what you mean to say is that it will be hard pressed for our younger QBs to beat out Burrow and so he will almost certainly start come the first game against Miami.

It's obvious to me and many people that Burrow is a much more physical and mentally ready QB so all it will take is him mastering the playbook (which hasn't been fully implemented) and gain the trust of the offensive players first then the coaches after. If he can do at least two of those things he will more than likely start vs Miami. GT

He needs to win the hearts and minds of the fan base many of which he lost with off season drama. Burrow is perceived as the best QB on the roster by most so unless you go undefeated with any other QB people will call for the coaches head.
This is such a Louisiana thing to say.

Any fan who thinks this way has accepted mediocracy.

Whether any fan has accepted it or not...over the past 5 seasons...we are what our record says we are....a mediocre program(25-15 in SEC play...63% winning percentage).

‘14 - 8-5(5-3)
‘15 - 9-3(5-3)
‘16 - 8-4(4-4)

I think you need to brush up on the English language baw.

Would and Should most definitely DO NOT mean the same thing.

Will (future tense of would) the board fire Aleva? Who knows.

Should the board fire Aleva? Hell Yeah.

See the difference?

You are definitely correct.

However, to support the OP, if O loses to Miami with anyone but Burrow starting, he might as well get a security detail cuz the pitch forks will be sharpened.

If we lose to Miami with Burrow under QB, it would still be bad but it wouldn't be because the fans think he started the wrong QB.

To make it worse, if he starts Brennan and loses to Miami and then starts Burrow the rest of the way and finished 9-3. He still has the fans at his neck for not starting Burrow game 1.

If he starts Burrow and loses to Miami and then starts Brennan the rest of the way and finishes 9-3, the fans were at least in agreement with who got the first shot.

I'm not saying I agree that JB should start no matter what, I'm just saying I see the point the OP is making.

IMO, people are going to over react to the first game win or lose. People are going to come out of everywhere to say "I told you so" as if one game is going to tell the whole story.
