Venables will have been game planning for LSU’s offense for over a month by game time.
Everyone has a plan, until they get punched in the mouth.

I think they rush straight up the field to keep Burrow in the pocket. Have their hands all up in the air trying to bat balls down. Clemson knows how deadly Joe is when breaks the blitz and scrambles. They will throw everything possible to keep him from stepping up in the pocket.

Maybe any player regardless of position.
It shouldn’t be a discussion even at this point.

offensive yes
defensive- Derrick Thomas having 27 sacks and 39 tfl in a single year is fricking amazing

Have fun dealing with CEH and Moss. They are both going to feast if Clemson is just bringing the house every other play.

This LSU team would beat the 1958 National Championship team by 100 its.
Not joking ! Obviously, it's a different era. Just saying, comparing the 2 teams in terms of which team was better isn't even a debate.

after the OK first half, I am convinced. Even Herbie said "this is the best offense I have ever seen, and it not really close" on the late SC the playoff night

I wasn’t comparing the 1958 team to this team. Two freshman Tyler Shelvins and Kade York would probably be as heavy as the entire 1958 team’s starting offensive line.

My point was this year’s team will have make a good case as the best college football team ever if they pull off 15-0.
I personally believe this year’s team is already the most impressive season in LSU’s history even with a loss in the Final.
But college football is vastly different now, compared to even as recent as 2011, because of the playoffs.

I do think that "IF" LSU is able to "boat race" Clemson like they did Georgia and Oklahoma then they are in the discussion among the best teams of all time. With that having been said, the college football pundits say that almost every other year these days. Although, in this case I do think they would be correct.

they will lose by 50 if they try it.

its honestly not super complicated; Burrow has said that when he sees the back of a DBs helmet, he considers that WR open. whether he actually is open or not is irrelevant because by the time you analyze it Joe has already thrown it to him and we've scored.

if Venables can teach them to guard our WRs while never looking at them, and do that in 2 weeks, then we're in trouble. if not they're as screwed as everyone else.

Id guess they'll go to a makeshift dime with Simmons dropping back as the world's biggest S, if anyone can do that he can, but our WRs get so deep so fast, theyre routinely 20+ yards deep in under 3 seconds, he's gonna have to live back there, meaning CEH will have oceans of space.

other than that S Tanner Muse is their best DB. 5th year senior. 3rd team AP All American. 2nd team PFF All American.

CB Derion Kendrick was second team All ACC.
Safety K'Von Wallace was third team All ACC.

theyre well coached of course but theyre not setting any records with pure physical talent.

They will blitz early - after Joe burns some Hot routes Venables like all
others before him will slow down rush numbers to try to contain Joe

Same as Saban and bama had to prepare for us and look what we did to them. On the road where they had not lost in 40 games... sound familiar. We ending streaks and shite this year

LSU's offense has faced the following defensive luminaries over the last 9 games:

Grinch/OU

Smart (Lanning)/UGA

Elko/aTm

Saban (Golding)/Bama

Steele/Auburn

Shoop/MSU

Grantham/Florida

This post basically deserves its own thread with all of the Venables talk. He’s definitely a great DC but it’s not like we haven’t gone through a gauntlet of them.
