Brennan should have redshirted last year. Especially in hind sight with him only playing sparingly in 6 games. JM could’ve done that. I have stated that I believe Brennan will stay and compete for the starting QB position. If he does not beat out Burrow, and that’s a BIG IF, then Brennan should redshirt and let Burrow, JM and LN lead the team. This way Brennan will still have 3 years of eligibility after next year. Possibly with a new coaching staff.

I have been thinking that the whole time. Hope our coaches agree.

Yes, best thing for Brennan would be to redshirt and put on the weight. No big deal. Development is a marathon, not a sprint.

I agree with your post, but this line wasn't necessary. You went from a post about Brennen redshirting, and turned it into a Pro O vs Anti O shitfest. Why???

You really think there would be a competition? Maybe an "official" competition for admin purposes, but we know what the results already are.

This. Justin would have been a fine backup.

Whomever wins the #2 will be the #2 -simple as that. We can't predict red shirts - at least not in this particular case.

People look at teams like UGA, who have had a freshman QB do great. There have been a few other examples scattered throughout the country as well. Best case scenario for every school is to have a QB come in and start as a RS So or JR. Having a true freshman come in and start right away should be the exception, not the expectations. Brennan (or LN) can still be a great QB for LSU, it will just be in two years when they are more ready to handle it. I don't see why the kids, or the fan base would view it as anything but a great thing for all involved.

I don’t see Brennan wanting to wait two years to see the field. And with LN even then is a big ?

Not much of one (based on what I've seen on film and read from O and Ensminger). We have 3 inconsistent guys. The guy we're about to land is ready to start immediately.

I guess I am disgusted at the way this whole qb saga has been handled and it ultimately starts at the top. Why didn’t Brennan redshirt last year? It makes as much since for him to RS as LN. Is it because O did not think Brennan would redshirt after his Freshman year and he would have him as either a starter or a back up for 4 years? Why did O and Canada so viamitly disagree on playing time for Brennan. Something just does not add up. You can’t honestly say that you are happy with the way this entire offense and QB debacle has been handled since O took over. I just don’t see a long term relationship developmenting here.

Couldn't have planned ahead that the backup wouldn't play much and Brennan should've played more last year.

I’m not saying he should redshirt but Burrow is the classic example of why it pays to get a degree. Kid gets to choose where he finishes school now.

It amuses me when LSU fans get upset over the possibility of MB or LN transferring.

First of all, where are they going? No P5 school is going to give them a sholly. They can watch the spring games just like we did.

Secondly, neither will ever play for LSU because they will both be recruited over.

I for one am smiling because it will be nice to finally have a qb who can ACCURATELY make all the throws.

MB and LN would get tons of offers. You don't know what you talking about.

Look, I am not a big O supporter, but now you are just sounding stupid.

Etling was a senior, and I'm sure the hopes were Brennan would come in and take over this season. Assuming that's the plan, it made little sense to redshirt him last year. He benefited more from getting some experience last season, assuming he would very possibly be starting this season.

LN redshirted probably to make sure his knees were 100%. He hasn't played much in 2 years, now 3 after his redshirt year. It made sense for him to redshirt.

Now that things have changed, it makes sense for Brennan to RS, if Burrow will start. And assuming McMillan can handle the back up role adequately.

Let Brennan transfer who cares. Narcisse is will be the back up/wild cat and he'll be the heir apparent
