If you want restaurant cajun/creole food, seriously, go to New Orleans. Baton Rouge restaurants suck. The best of them are, at best, chain restaurants or taste like it. I'm 51 and have never had a great cajun/creole restaurant meal from BR comparable to NOLA.

Playing in Pasadena / Rose Bowl will be a first for LSU so that will be neat and I have a feeling LSU fans are going to take over, I expect UCLA to be a little better in year whatever for Kelly if he's still there.

Any of y'all ever had the bread pudding at the Bayou Barn in Marrero? Just curious - it was the closest thing to what my mom used to make.

If you are from the area of Ohio not too far from Athens, Ohio, that is now considered an honorary part of Louisiana and people down here will treat you like family.

All the restaurant suggestions are good ones, but as noted, you will get a wider & better variety of cajun foods walking around campus.Wear your Buckeye shirt & you will get all the free food and drinks you can handle. If you have not yet made hotel reservations, do so now as all the major ones fill up early summer, late Spring.

Crawfish will be out of season, so only find it in dishes such as crawfish etoufee or crawfish bisque. Oysters not the greatest at that time of year either, but you should be able to find some decent ones at the Oyster Houses (like Acme, Felix's, and Drago's, etc.)

Good time of year for boiled shrimp, boiled crabs, and other dishes with these two delicacies in them. Get back to us later and we'll send some more advice about seeing various parts of South Louisiana.

Cheers

Enjoy the game but then go see Oak Alley Plantation, charter a marsh fishing trip in Plaquemines Parish, go to some of the legacy restaurants in New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana.
Catch a festival. Then last but not least go back to Ohio. We have enough snowbirds down here!

Bayou Barn is in Crown Point son! It probably is Marrero but no one thinks of that area as anything but Crown point.
