So they should only investigate things after they occur instead of engaging in any type of crime prevention?

They shouldn’t stop people for just being “suspicion” when they have no reason to believe a crime has occurred.

If some reported people breaking into cars go ahead and stop the guy crouching in the car lot.

Again, innocent citizens shouldn’t have to be commanded. I dont Think catching a petty criminal is worth stopping an innocent citizen. Epically when cops are willing to pull guns when they don’t feel safe.

What about stopping someone who just committed or was about to commit a murder and is hiding right after they saw police?

I am Saying cops create these situations based on a low level of suspicion.

Citizens have no part in creating these situations I guess. Koy and his friend didn’t create the situation. The cops just sought them out for what reason?

quote:

It’s also how shite like this happens. Again, should citizens fear cops?

Do you fear cops? Maybe you should comply with lawful commands then. Wouldn’t you think you’d do that if you were in fear?

quote:

People don’t comply with police orders because they feel like they’re helping cops catch bad guys s they do it because they’re afraid they’ll get shot or maimed.

A cop gives commands involving his/her safety because they are afraid they will get shot or maimed.

Suck my dick.

Police power has been overextended for public safety and not its being overextended for police safety.

I agree. If you see a guy that isn't your neighbor beating down your neighbors door, don't be a profiling arse. Wait until he's stolen everything and then tell the police the next day you thought there might be something suspicious about him!

If that apartment complex has been there any length of time and it’s not secure then I guarantee you they’ve had reports of thefts from vehicles. It doesn’t matter though. A cop has reason to believe you may be involved in criminal behavior if you are crouching behind a car to hide at the sight of them.

You had no reason to believe it. They did because they’ve seen that type of behavior goes hand in hand with someone who is up to no good.

He didn’t know for sure it was a crime. His neighbor could have asked for the person to tear the door down and then install a new one. We have to work only with what we know for sure at the time, right?

If cops are always going to put their safety first, and honestly maybe they should, then they should also make sure the situations they’re putting themselves in are necessary.

I understand it’s easier to do the job investigating everything and letting the non criminals go, but it isn’t easier for the non criminals.

You can’t leave out the responsibility of the citizen. All parties have certain responsibilities.

Non criminals shouldn’t be hiding from police to draw attention to themselves.

But in and of itself it could be

Wheat as crouching behind a car in and of itself is not a crime.

It’s suspicious. But if you can’t say exactly why your suspicious of someone and I mean exactly, why are You stopping them for just being suspicious?

To never seem suspicious to cops?

I don’t Think that’s my responsibility.

Well for starters, no cop likes an ambush. I can assure you of that. They do not have to know why they are hiding or come up with what crime they think happened. They can ensure the safety of the situation and then determine whether or not any crime occurred. They don’t have to have a good enough reason just to appease you. There’s thousands of crimes that could be committed that someone would hide for. Why do they have to just pick one?

You're admitting that its suspicious but then using the reluctance of the police department to explain to you why they were doing their job as a reason to attack and demonize them while defending a liar.

I love your grounded, non-biased views.

You do have a responsibility to comply with an order that is lawful. Some would think you have a responsibility to yourself to not do something that you know is going to escalate the situation.

Okay. Do what you want to do. I enjoy my freedoms as well. That doesn’t mean I’m going to intentionally make decisions that are going to draw the suspicion of cops.

Yeah I agree with this.

Koy is young and dumb. he just got played and likely learned a major life lesson. Cops didn’t do anything at all wrong.

End of story.

The fact of the matter is you believe my freedoms should go out the window as soon as I’m deemed “suspicious” not of a specific crime but just in general.

And I say That’s too low of a bar.
