The players don't have to be proven 100% guilty beyond all reasonable doubt to be charged.

No they don't. But, to my knowledge, whether or not someone is charged with a crime heavily depends on the likelihood of the charges sticking and the odds of winning in court, which in this instance, seem slim.

Unless the video clearly shows the football player who allegedly kicked the most severely injured player in the head then it seems like there's no way they could get a conviction.

This was a fight. They apparently have no hard evidence because if they did, charges would have already been brought.

It's a disservice to the accused to drag this out. I know the BRPD doesn't operate on the LSU football schedule, but give me a break. They could definitely expedite the investigation if they wanted, and everything could return to a new normal.

Just charge the players who were involved. Plea it down. Drop the charges. Just do something.

Wait i thought the marine was a hero who stopped the fight after lsu football players ripped somebody out a truck? I iz confused
No that is complete bs Lowery is the reason the fight started and he was friends with the so called "victims" also EricB i was referring to the ones who got there arse kicked as having whiskey courage not JJ. While I agree poor judgment on his part to fight the stories of Lowery just coming to the aid as a hero r completely false.

it's called circumstantial evidence. It decides cases all the time. that's why we have a jury system.

Look -- I know people are getting very emotional about defending the LSU football players in this one, but I don't understand why?

Is it really that hard to understand that this is not elementary school? It's not who tattles on who, or even who throws the first punch. It's about the amount of damage one person does to the other -- and whether or not it could have been prevented.

Go watch Con Air. Jesus.

Here are the facts:

1. There was a fight
2. 4 people were injured
3. Those injuries are apparent and clear
4. Those injured accused certain football players
5. Other witnesses accused the football players

6. The football players denied it

= Enough to be charged.

Think about this: a women accuses a man of battery and shows her injuries to the cops. No one saw it, but charges would be filed.

In this case, there are multiple witnesses with the only denials being the players (as reported at this point).

We still dont know what caused the broken bones so it was just a bar fight as far as we know.

Wrong. Stone and White said they have witnesses that corroborate the player's story.

The BRPD Spokesman implies that the delay was due to it being a "High Profile Case". Does this also imply that they complete investigations sooner and with less scrutiny if they are "Low Profile Cases"?

I find it insulting that this case may be getting some sort of special treatment because these guys are "Public Figures", IMHO. Apply the law and be done with it. They do not shite vanilla ice cream.
