Yep in 2001, Saban’s 2nd year at LSU when we beat Tennessee in the SECCG. They were ranked # 2 LSU was ranked 21 on the AP poll. We were also at 8-3 record going into that game. No one thought we would beat them especially Fulmer. Lol

To be fair, BK did give us our 2nd Heisman winner this century. Just saying, not defending his other BS and poor coaching or lack there of. Lol

I think Saban thought if he got LSU to hire someone who they would probably fire in a few years, he could come back to LSU if it didn't work out in the NFL. He did say halfway through his 1st season in Miami that he should have never left Baton Rouge.

Logic, eh? What does Nick Saban’s coaching career have to do with Brian Kelly’s? These are unrelated things. Kelly is driving the LSU football program into the crapper can from what I see. Maybe the team is full of top shelf players who will take the reins next year, but so far I see none playing.

If we have a top 75 defense last year, then BK wins a natty, so I’m not buying your prediction.
Sure, because 5th year Heisman QBs are on every street corner.

Was the fanbase this bad when Saban lost 5 games in year 3?
The fan base was different in 2002. At that time we hadn’t won a Natty in 44 years. 44 years.
Now, after 2004 we have averaged playing for a Natty every 5 years regardless of who the coach is. We’ve won 3 out of the 4 trips to the Championship and LSU is leaps and bounds more equipped from a facilities perspective than we were in 2002.
Bottom line is our expectations were not what they are now. Tough crap BK - ya blew it!

Obviously like a few have said, program expectations have changed after 3 titles and 4 appearances in 25 years. Also, when at LSU, Saban was a young up and coming HC so there was little expectations and lots of hope. Big Game Brian has been around for a long time and already had a reputation for not being prepared to win big games. So when he comes here with that legacy already and does the same shite but also adds losing games that should be won like A&M and FSU in 2022 and USC and Florida this year, it is much easier to lose hope and turn on the guy.

Little premature but it is possible.

Yall are panicking way too soon.
Because Kelly hasn’t won in his first 3 seasons means he will never win? The CFB landscape is more different than it’s ever been. LSU is “struggling” yet we’re still in a decent spot.
Look at programs with similar resources to us, Auburn, Florida and Oklahoma. They are grasping for air overall since 2020.
They would kill to be sitting where LSU is at right now. Kelly has his cons but let’s be honest here we could be doing much much worse. I don’t know what makes LSU fans think it’s their birthright to be a 1 loss 2 loss max team every single season.
03, 07(with the flukiest of all fluke luck), 11, 19. They are solid but not some machine that shits out championships. We aren’t Bama so stop comparing us to them.

All I’m saying is let’s realize how spoiled LSU fans are. 6-7 in 2021 was the first time in over 20 seasons. LSU is a high floor program. It’s almost impossible to even go below .500.
2021 took a total disaster and pandemic after waves. With the current structure and way that LSU is built I have a very hard time seeing them ever go 6-6 or worse ever again. Too much talent and you will always win a game or two that you shouldn’t.

Fat Bastard that warmed my heart.
I may just watch the 2019 tape again and sit back and wonder where we would be if Pelini had said no.

Yes beating Tennessee anytime is glorious for sure. Lol

But he acts all defensive at the podium and treats us like southern swamp trash
Are we not? Jk. Although most coaches don't like being questioned, BK really doesn't like it. When you get paid what he does, you have to man up and have actual conversations about deficiencies (whatever they may be). Getting defensive is rarely a positive.
