He’s being clever. Kiffin didn’t spend $40 million this offseason. But if he puts that out there he can claim he didn’t have the same resources. Or if Kiffin drops a few it’ll look worse considering the alleged roster spend.

Let's pretend this is true (I'm dubious of all these numbers), the counterpoint would simply mean that Kiffin is better at raising money and gathering resources than BK.
Kelly is trying to frame it as "LSU didn't give me the same resources as Kiffin" when in reality its "Kelly didn't get people excited enough to receive the same resources"
The resources were always available. You just have to motivate people to get them.
This isn't the excuse Kelly wants it to be.

Wonder the spending ranking of the top ten teams in the NCAA. It will be interesting to see if success is in correlation to the money spent on talent and coaches.
