WHAT? you want effective, let him pull the ball and RUN. That is the key to really being an effective RPO and challenging this season.
ummmm no it is not. RPO's work fine with just the option of PASS or handoff to a RB!
he does not have to run in a RPO
he does in a zone read if read dictates it. he did run on a zone read last night.

The OPTION is for him or the back to run. That is an advantage of this offense. I guess my eyes failed me watching Burrow now pull it and have his Hiesman Moment against Bama YOU PRICK.
Congratulations, you played yourself.

quote:potato potato. WTF ever. You know what’s funny with all you coaches? How many illegal lineman down field calls LSU had in 2019. You know WHY they had that at times? Because Burrow didn’t run. He pulled it and chunked it downfield at times. He was able to use RPO and the option that is in the O to read the defense and pull it or run. Call it whatever you want. Call it a combination of r 2. It was a weapon because it fooled the eyes of the defenders and let the back slip out or. TE or bought time for the receivers to come back, double move, etc. who says that the QB can’t read the run and quick throw before the linemen release or hold and let them release to run in the same formations? It is for the QB to have that confidence, communication and leadership of the Oline. Cush knew.
That was a read Option dumb arse.
Look, I guess the 2 other QBs had a tougher time than the Vandy back-up to learn... could it be that none can run a read option or RPO in high school? Wait, what you’re saying is in year 2 of this offense none of them can run the read option or a QB draw.
I mean, genius E surely taught them during the fall camp.

So your point is that we should run the read option more often. Gotcha. You could have said that in the first place, instead of doubling down on how you don’t know the difference between an RPO and a read option. It literally took you two pages of people telling you you were wrong for you to even admit it.
So next time people are talking about the RPO, you’ll know better than to say that Brennan needs to run it.

quote:how do? I said in an RPO the QB can RUN. It doesn’t have to be the back. Others says it is a read option and not a true RPO. I don’t care what you call it, he pulled one time last night and got 3 yards. He had that all game for many more. My argument is, he can be a threat of a weapon to run and it will make them defend more players opening up this offense. Others said he MUST hand it off to the back or throw it. That is fundamentally wrong. Someone can run and /or he can pass. He has the choice. If he keeps and run he will open up the offense for the running back via screens or later runs because the defense will need to hold for a beat and not shoot the gaps. Fooling those LBs is going to be key for his continued development.
Congratulations, you played yourself.

No a-hole. Same formation, same motions, coordination of the oline. Go back and watch 2019 and point out the difference in the RPO or straight read option.
You will see blurred lines and penalties at times or the announcers calling out illegal lineman downfield because it was a combination of the two. Great teams can blur those lines.

quote:It’s not though. In a read option, you leave the left side defensive end unblocked, and then either keep the ball or hand it off depending on if the defensive player crashes down or stays home. This is a designed run, where all of the players are blocking.
No a-hole. Same formation, same motions, coordination of the oline.
In an RPO, the O-line is blocking like a run play, but you have one or two receivers running a skinny post or a slant. If the safety comes up, you throw it, if the safety stays home, you hand it off.
They are two completely different plays and you can’t tell them apart.

Does it have to be the running back run it?
It doesn’t, but an RPO is set up as an RB or pass. If the QB pulls it and runs it’s usually because he can see a gap or he’s extending a busted play. There are some that call for QB run, but typically it’s not.

Exactly. It was very encouraging to see and he played well last night. I hope he continues to work hard and get better. I would enjoy it if he continues to improve and makes me look like an idiot and eat crow for calling him a bust.

It’s embarrassing how many of you don’t understand RPO.

I tried telling all the chicken littles that he will get better and better with more game reps. The game is slowing down more and more every quarter.

I thought he played a good game but he's got to grow up fast. He held the ball a few times while staring at one receiver waiting for him to get open. He's going to get sacked if he continues to do that. I'm not seeing him make his progressions on the drop back passes.

I am also feeling Very hopeful! What a difference in Brennan’s comfort level. I guess the drill and practice everyday helped him a lot with his confidence. I don’t care who we are playing...He just needed to gain some experience and confidence. Geaux Tigers!

Way to go there, Myles! I see a lot of progress, and some of you dumbasses are just determined to complain about everything! It would be nice to show some support for our quarterback—no matter who we play! He looked better, and he had way more confidence—anyone can see he was better! How ‘bout seeing something positive! Geaux Tigers!!!! .
