He has the ability. Max was great last season especially when compared to TJ's play, but Brennan has a way better understanding of the Brady/Peetz offense. Max will get playing time this season, but Brennan will be named the starter.

Max is the starter. I don’t get people’s loyalty to Brennan. Brennan is a decent QB, but he ain’t the answer. If you can’t figure that out by now.... He had a 50 yard TD on a fake spike 50/50 ball. Meanwhile Max had a 60 yard TD called back due to block in the back. Brennan is a 6 year senior, stop looking at age

I'll leave it at this...Brennan moves slower than my 72 year old, 100 pound over weight diabetic arthritic no cartilage in the knee Grandfather.

A Brady offense wants a QB that can execute designed runs

To be named starter Max had to show real separation between him and Brennan and he just didn’t do that. He will start one day but not this year.

Same can be said of Brennan and he did not show any separation either.

I dont know and won't claim to know who will start but the only real argument I've seen that would set Brennan apart is that he waited his turn.

If thats how the starter is chosen then Ed O won't last much longer at LSU

yeah and that was BEFORE he got hurt.

I actually like Brennan, I think he might be better than Max right now but Max will almost certainly be better long term.

Interesting comparison when you consider 3rd down conversion, drive efficiency and TD Percentage. I believe two of the most critical areas for scoring offense.

3rd Down
Myles
0-10yds
0/1
0/1
1/1 (Did not convert)
1/3 - 33%
10-20yds
0/1
0/1
0/2 - 0%
20+yds
0/0 0%

3rd Down
Max
0-10 yds
1/1
1/1
2/2 - 100%
10-20 yds
0/1
0/1
0/2 - 0%
20yds +
0/1
1/1 (Kirklin TD)
1/2 - 50%

3rd Down Notes:

Myles
Converted 0 First Downs w/o Penalty throwing the ball
1 Pass Completion on third down (Short of Yard to Gain)
5 Opportunities

Max
Converted 3 First Downs w/o Penalty throwing the ball
3 Completions on third down (1 TD, 2 First Downs)

Drive Chart

Myles
1-Field Goal - 3 Points
1-Field Goal - 3 Points
1 - TD (Fake Spike Boutte TD)
1-Punt
1-Missed FG (After turnover)

Max
1 - Red Zone - Downs - 0 Points (Boutte TD Called Back Block in Back)
1 - Field Goal - 3 Points
1 - Punt
1 - TD (Kirklin)
1 - TD (Kirklin)

Y'all have been saying this since before this kid even got to LSU, but somehow he managed to beat out Max last season when Brennan got injured and play surprisingly decent as a true freshman there were a bunch of people on this board stating he would never play a down at LSU at QB. Point is TJ has shown that he is still learning how to play the position. He has shown signs of promise mixed in with some missteps. That is all part of it. None of you know where these QBs will land when when the season starts. Some could use this Spring scrimmage as turning point in their development or others could regress. Nuss could come out as the starter this season not likely but point is it is possible.

Jake Johnson would not have committed if he didnt already know Max was the starter. Reason being that whoever loses the job will transfer.

yep yep yep. It was the same thing last season when Myles was healthy. Dude puts up pretty stats but can't deliver on the most important downs.

Best guy plays, regardless of age or a ridiculous fear of others transferring.

QBs will transfer - that's just the nature of today's game (anybody remember a guy named Burrow?).

Trying to keep everyone happy would be a horrible way to coach.
