re: Brennan transferring..."LSU QB Myles Brennan set to hit the transfer portal"

Myles deserves a chance wherever he ends up. You gotta feel pretty bad for the guy - he had the worst luck. He was likely the starter in 2018 until Burrow transferred.
The injuries over the last two seasons were tough breaks (though none of us can be 100% confidence he would have been the starter this season even without the injury).
As for 2018, that wasn't "bad luck". The reason Burrow was brought in is BECAUSE it looked like Brennan was going to be the 2018 starter...and that wasn't a good thing. The coaching staff felt it necessary to bring in a LESS experienced (Brennan had played more meaningful snaps to that point in their careers than Burrow), lower rated (if you give credit to such things) QB AFTER spring football to come in an start 3 months later. You don't make that move if you have confidence in what you already have on the roster. Remember, Burrow was far from a "sure thing" at that point. In fact, he was just OSU's 2nd-3rd team QB who had not played a meaningful down in 3 seasons.
You hate to see any football player have his career/opportunities cut short due to injury, and I hope Brennan gets a chance to prove himself elsewhere. But as it stands, he's got a great spot in LSU lore. Among the fans he will go down as the best QB with a career 1-2 record as a starter to ever wear the purple and gold!!

He has had his share of injuries. I personally feel for him, he deserves the best wishes of everyone.

By my count he has two. Redshirt, medical redshirt for this year, covid year. Transfer, play the last four elsewhere, and should have two years left. His case fits the definition of a medical redshirt.

You are giving Coach 0 way too much credit here.

How many games has he won in the half decade he was at LSU?
Posted on 11/1/21 at 1:26 pm to bwallcubfan
He might be better than Max but Max has all the experience over him at this point. Plus with Nuss on the roster and Howard coming in.
I hate that he had so many bad breaks while he was here. I think he'll be a good quarterback for somebody. He could have been a four-year starter here if not for Burrow transferring
in and then the injuries.

My feelings good let some other school pay his medical bills for the next two years.
We will have enough trouble paying off the rising tuition paying off Coach O.

Does the concept of the transfer portal elude you?
It's generally for player who are NOT playing.

I sure hope you're right Lester. I'm pretty sure we could win more than one game with Myles at QB.

If I'm not mistaken you only have 6 years once your clock starts.

I hope he chooses wisely.
He would get killed at USM and they have zero offensive weapons,
South Carolina would be a good spot. Stays in the SEC and has somewhat decent talent to throw to.

Maybe Tulane has an opening for him next season.

I really hate to see it, but Brennan was plagued by a vexing combo of bad luck and bad coaching as a Tiger.
Under the right system (maybe Mike Leach at Miss State) he could break records. He's that talented.

Once a Tiger always a tiger. He was part of the greatest team in LSU and probably College football history. Enough said.
Best of luck to Myles and his family. I hope he kills it somewhere
