Barring a HUGE jump in progression Brennan will still be the starter next year. Neither of those kids can spin it like Myles can and he’s got the experience even if it’s from the sidelines. Finley has a big arm but Myles has a quicker release and is more accurate. Even though he only got 2 1/2 games those games were big fir Brennan. You could see him getting better and better in front of your eyes.

I'm assuming the recovery isn't so long that it will interfere with next season so they waited to see if would get better. Getting surgery now vs a month ago probably wouldn't make a difference

I'm also not a doctor though

This. And healing without surgery, if possible, is almost always the first choice.

Bring Joe back next summer to give all our QBs a masterclass on how to hit.
Get Well Soon Myles. You will be Heisman caliber next season.

Terrible news for Brennan. What is the recovery time for something like that?

For anyone who actually understands QB play it is very obvious TJ has way more upside then Brennan. Brennan only has good stats because Marshall was able to out talent DBs from MSU, Vandy and Missouri. Take away Marshall's catches, yards and TDs from Brennan's stats and he doesnt look too good.

The better teams would have had the DB talent to neutralize Marshall just like Auburn was able to do. As a result, Brennan would have been awful with poor 3rd efficiency and so on.

Brennan has a choice to make. Be a career backup and be passed on the depth chart by the freshman or transfer. If the season continues and TJ looks even decent there is no way O can bench him for Brennan. The BLM/Ryan Clark nonsense was already a factor this season and benching a black QB with more upside and experience would destroy the locker room for next season as well.

I don't think you can say that with any certainty. There are (presumably) 5 more games left to play vs. LSU's toughest competition. Someone (maybe both) will play QB during those games and have a chance place themselves as the frontrunner for the job going into 2021. For purposes of discussion let's assume Finley starts the rest of the way. Obviously much of it will have to depend on how he plays, but he could go into spring 2021 with MORE starting/game experience than Brennan. If (big IF) he plays well, then I don't see how the staff could simply just hand the starting job back to Brennan based upon 2.5 games of good play against mediocre to bad competition.

These freshmen will gain the experience this year and Myles will not get the job back. They're already more talented.

More talented yet getting their asses handed to them on a weekly basis....right

hard hit

It was an ordinary hit that any non-eggshell player would have brushed off. Let's not pretend he got some supernatural, otherworldly hit put on him.

Screw one hit. How about the fact that the OL sucks and Brennan got hit/knocked down 28 times in 3 games. Look what happened to Finley against Auburn. If this crap OL doesn’t get any better we’re going to have more quarterbacks hurt. You Watch.

This is insanely idiotic to predict. More than likely with the experience from this year and a full spring, one of these guys will be better than Brennan before the next season. For example, what screws Brennan with TJ, is that physically TJ is better so all he needs is time in the offense, chemistry with the WRs, and in game experience. He gets all of that this year if he plays well and continues to start. Then he has all offseason to fine tune that.

I don’t see much difference from a tools perspective between Finley and Brennan.

Y’all act like Brennan has Andrew Hatch level talent. He’s a pro QB.

Looks and sounds like that Brennan is looking to transfer next year. Smart move. he will still have 2 years of eligibility left. His Dad and him have seen the writing on the wall regarding O. This is the smart move if you ask me.

are you mentally slow?

TJ relied on Marshall way more than Brennan, take away Marshall stats for both of them and see where they are at

In almost 2 games TJ completed 2 passes over 20yds in the air.
Myles completes 2 every other series

I agree. I think one QB is going to move on because sitting around as a backup for another year is not what they had planned when they signed on.

I hate it for Brennan. But, I agree with the poster who said this would give him time to heal and to be ready for next year.

Just because this is the rant and we all overreact. I have a new theory to throw in the ring.

TJ and Max both end up transferring. Brennan starts next year while Nuss redshirts as a freshman then Nuss comes in as a sophomore and lights it up.
