I'm amazed(I shouldn't be anymore) at what some of you all think. I have news for you. They are all good quarterbacks. Harris is crazy talented but will almost certainly redshirt. That's not a knock on him. It's a tip of the hat to others. If he starts, he will have progressed incredibly fast. Jennings and Rettig are both extremely talented and game ready. I'm not saying they are not young and would not make mistakes. I'm saying they are both in positions to lead the team to victory consistently. Rettig has a cannon arm. Trust me, I've seen it. Jennings is more mobile, but most of you would be quite shocked how mobile Rettig actually is. They are both accurate. They are both dedicated to learning and becoming better. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Les knows what he want to do and both of these guys can get the job done. Both are great kids too.

Listen to that man. He is being reasonable. I don't understand why people think it's a two horse race. AJ probably has an early edge, but it's open at this point. I don't care who starts. I'm excited to see an open competition.

It's Jennings' job to lose. I don't see how some of you don't see that.
Nearly every top rated recruit coming in can "sling it." It's not about that. It's about learning the offense and making the right decisions. Once AJ gets more experience, the offense will improve over the season (or at least should)
I hate when people say "pro style offense." Just because AJ can move, doesn't make us Nebraska with Eric Crouch. QB's with running ability is what everyone wants. Look at young NFL QB's i.e. Russell Wilson, Colin Kap, etc

Cam picked Jennings as #2 last spring when the kid had been on campus like 2 mons. To me, that says a lot. Cam put Jennings in vs. the Hogs when Mett went down and started him in the bowl game.

Who knows what will happen this spring or fall practice, but I'm hard pressed to see Cam jumping to Harris or another LSU QB who couldn't beat Jennings out, in Cam's eyes, after over a yr of trying.

Harris is too small, too green. Will not start. (maybe he will play some)

AJ was not impressive in the bowl game, this opens the door for Rettig in Spring ball. That's where the battle will take place.

A lot of experts are saying Harris will redshirt. Great live arm but accuracy is not there. And did anyone watch the qb skills challenge? He watched 4 guys before him go and he still had no idea what to do. Lol

So he is dumb? Is that what you are saying?

Harris will be a great qb but his time will come. Jennings will be the starter all year. There's a reason Rettig redshirted and Jennings passed up Rivers. Jennings can execute. He will only get better. A year ago everybody was saying Jennings was a sure thing as our starter in 2014. What, now after the bowl game everyone's opinion on him changed? Just like almost every qb, it takes time for them to develop. It is unrealistic for everyone to think a qb can come straight from high school to the SEC and perform at a high level. Harris will develop, learn the playbook, add some weight, and have a serious chance of competing for the starting job in 2015, but in the meantime, Jennings is our qb.

Malachi D and T Quinn didn't come to LSU to come into an offense with a QB that cannot throw.

If Jennings doesn't show he can get the ball to our group of Raw but talented recievers consistently, Cam will have B Harris starting in Houston game 1 and Jennings will be our option change of pace much like this year but more.

Book it

Great sample size

How many games could Mett "not throw" in 2012?

I don't think it can be summed up better than this.

It's not just QB ADD. This is what happens every year after recruiting. Basically, if a kid doesn't come in and blow the doors off the place immediately, he's forgotten. Then, the shiny new recruit shows up and now HE will win the job.

Same will go for this class. If Harris doesn't start for two years while Jennings and or Rettig do, then when we sign another 4-5 Star QB a couple classes from now, the fans will say "no way does Harris" beat the new stud coming onto campus.

And, it happens at every position.

To think Cam will not do his due dilligence when it comes to evaluating the QBs is ridiculous. That's why he was brought here. They are not going to hand the QB job to anyone. It will be earned. We as fans just may not see all of the intangibles the coaches are putting into the equation:

Arm strength
Accuracy
Mobility
Knowledge of play book
Decision making
Reading defenses
Ability to work through progressions
Mental toughness and leadership

I get that some people saw AJ in the Iowa game and had flash backs of JJ. I was at the game and this thought crept into my head, but you have to realize that it's his first start. Mett looked bewildered his first few starts and that was after all of that JUCO experience. It's a process.

I was at the game and not once did I think of JJ. The conditions were miserable, and the game plan was to run Hill.

Obviously running Hill was the plan, but in pass situations there were a number of times that AJ held the ball way too long or did not scramble when blocking broke down and lanes opened. That was a similar thing I saw with JJ. But, like I said I realize the difference in a 1st start vs a seasoned QB.
