This seems like another typical "quick" hire by Coach O. We have seen several of these in his tenure. I know these guys are in a club and know each other well, but at least have a process to do the right hire. There is nothing in Davis' background that says he jumps within a year or 2.

I think this is the case of the quick hire being a good thing. Davis comes with a solid reputation, close ties to the state and is on an upward trajectory in his career. This is not a situation where we can take our time and bring in multiple candidates. We have OL camp coming, summer workouts and big time OL recruits coming on visits. He's a guy that likely can come in and transition with little disruption and hopefully re-tool one of the most critical position groups.

He’s making 63k a month. I’d say the odds are in our favor.

Oh, look! Something else for the rant to complain about!

Jesus! We just hired a fantastic OL coach! Just be happy instead of finding the negative spin!

He has my full approval. He is the kind of coach that LSU needs.

San Pittman is probably the best OL coach out there so, for him to hire Davis comes with some legitimacy. I’d like to have seen him stay a little longer each stop but that’s often the case, in this business.

Also the name of one of my favorite NBA guards, with the Dallas Mavericks.

But this is a very good hire.

I feel better about Davis having strong input on the decisions about who plays center, whether Deculus remains at tackle or moves to guard, if Bradford should start and if Martinez, Dumervil and Hill can have an impact this season.

And of course, have no doubt he is a far better recruiter than Cregg was.

Dude gets around. Will he be here for more than a year?

Well that could be a red flag. However, he Arky coach is an OL guru. I doubt he would hire an unknown or some jackleg to be HIS OL coach. I trust he knows how to evaluate OL coaching talent, so am confident. But Davis still has to show he knows how to coach up his guys.

Probably won't take long to see if he's got it. We have stud running backs who should shine big with any decent blocking.

He finally landed where he was probably hoping to all along and just needed to gain experience.
