I don’t want to see this team in the postseason tbh. We’ll go sweep Florida, win in Hoover, then go 2 and bbq in a regional with how inconsistent they are

I actually think this team would have a fighting chance (25%) in the right regional.

But, there's zero chance it will make one.

Sweep Florida and win a a couple in the tournament and who knows maybe they let them sneak in

Sweeping Florida would be a miracle itself

The only possible chance of an at large is a sweep this weekend and an SECT finals appearance.

I don't even think that would do it. About 98% certain we need to win the tournament to make it.

I agree. The season ends after 1 game in the SEC tournament….mercifully!

dare I say we may have hope if we sweep florida and win a couple in hoover? maybe a 5 game win streak gets us in?

That is probably accurate in terms of the results of that outcome. I am not sure the outcome is likely, though.

But what the heck, I'm in!

I've never seen 12 wins make it into the post season in a 30 game conference season. Lsu has to win the sec tourney. That won't happen bro, we dont have the pitching. Make your vacations plan early this year.

Don’t worry, the inconsistency of this team is at such a level that there is no way LSU manages to sweep UF. Hell it’ll be a miracle if LSU manages to win a single game in the series. And LSU just might squeak out one or two wins at most in the SEC tourney, but after that they get dog walked.

This team squeaking into an away regional is equivalent to making the NIT in basketball.

Or not at all. The NIT is a totally irrelevant consolation tournament. The winner of the NIT doesn't compete for a national championship. The just get a trophy...kind of like winning the Texas Bowl.

Reaching the NCAA Tournament, even as the very last at-large team selected to the field, still means the team gets to compete for a National Championship. Just ask Ole Miss in 2022.

Yes, just squeaking into the NCAA would be disappointing relative to preseason expectations. But it would not be the equivalent of making the NIT

Three that I have found.

Moo State 2006 12-17 (37–23), Did not make the SEC Tournament

Vanderbilt 2009 12-17 (37-27) Lost in SEC Tournament finals (3-1)

Alabama 2021 12-17 (32–26) Won 2 in SEC Tournament (2-2)

Oddly enough, they all were 12-17 because one game was cancelled. And another oddity is that if LSU wins out, they will end up 32-26.

So I am back to maybe if LSU wins out and wins 2 SEC tournament games, they could get a bid. I don't expect all that to happen, but it would look a lot like 2021 Bama if they did.

Except you still can get your Omaha where as the NIT end in Indy verses the Final Four.

What a stupid take.

At worst, it is the equivalent of getting into the first four. And even that is not correct since there are 68 teams in the basketball tournament.

If you squeak into the baseball tournament as an at-large team, your RPI is at least 64, but in reality, given the number of autobids likely to be outside of the top 64 in RPI, you are likely to be in the 40s. If you win your conference tournament, you earned it under the rules.

And no team that makes the NIT can win a national championship if they somehow manage to put it together in a magical end to the season.

The NIT is a vestige from a time when far fewer teams made the NCAA tournament.

A widely cited example is the 2021 Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team, which made the tournament at 12–17 in SEC play after helping itself in the SEC Tournament.

Florida took 2 out of 3 against the team that just swept LSU. Sweeping them would take a miracle.

Whuaaaa i didnt realize that. I guess maybe their non conference games had alot of wins unlike us. We lost too many games during the week I think. Well we will see tonight. Gotta win 3 first of all.

2021 Bama looks surprisingly like us if we win out and win 2 games in Hoover.
