B.R. reporter - LSU's season on the brink grows more precarious

Rabalais - At the top of Lowell Narcisse’s Twitter account is pinned a message he wrote from March 2016:
“One of the hardest decision(s) you’ll ever face in life is choosing whether to walk away or try harder.”
On a bombshell day for the LSU football program, Narcisse, the redshirt freshman from St. James, decided to walk away. Apparently not liking the trend the four-man LSU quarterback derby was taking, he is taking his ball and heading elsewhere.
Fourth-year junior Justin McMillan may not be far behind.
He has not even named a front-runner, saying the practice repetitions are being kept at an even mix, though arguably the time is now for someone to be No. 1.
Orgeron said he promised Burrow only a chance to compete. LSU’s incumbent quarterbacks — McMillan, Narcisse and Myles Brennan — were offered the same chance after an inconclusive spring practice in which none of them charged to the front of the line.
Apparently, though, something changed after the Tigers' first preseason scrimmage Saturday. Though the numbers Orgeron provided from the closed session painted a picture of a tight grouping, one has to believe the LSU coaching staff showed the team a depth chart afterward, and that the numbers there did not please at least two pairs of eyes.
If Burrow gets injured or struggles, and if Brennan can not take up the reins in a satisfactory fashion, and if McMillan leaves as well, the Tigers would be left with precious few other options.
There is Andrew Sale, a transfer from Tennessee Tech; Jordan Loving, a walk-on from Riverside Academy; and a bevy of other talented athletes dotting LSU’s roster who were quarterbacks in their previous prep lives.
However it turns out, a season on the brink for LSU just got, well, brinkier.

ESPN - Narcisse and McMillan were both absent from practice on Tuesday.
In May, before Burrow announced his intention to transfer, Orgeron told ESPN he did not expect any of his three QB competitors to transfer.
"Every one of them have a viable chance to start at LSU and play -- and they know it," Orgeron said. "So why would you leave?"
Orgeron has media availability on Wednesday and is expected to address the situation with his quarterbacks then.-

This is the same if situation for every fricking team in the country.

I don’t understand the big deal...the kid wasn’t going to play b/c there are 3 other qbs. If he wasn’t good enough to play at LSU, why not go somewhere where he can play?

Rabalais with catastrophe syndrome just like many others... rather they quit now than during a game. We can focus on Miami instead of As the QB Turns.

Well, it's a "Big deal" if LSU is left with only Burrrow and Brennan, then one gets hurt or loss for the season.

That’s the same for literally every team in the country, he’ll probably only the same for 1/3 of the teams in the country. As most don’t have a competent backup even.
Orgeron can’t make anyone stay that doesn’t want. Personally, I’m a little old school in the sense that I think he should stayed and tried to develop his game more. There is no way I’m blaming Orgeron for this. He has to make a depth chart and if the kid didn’t want to be #4 and didn’t want to stay... what are you going to do. It’s all about instant gratification these days.
Some of you people need to listen to Hester and Flynn and their take on this. Those 2 are the most qualified local guys we had. Both were stars at LSU, yet both were buried on the depth chart in the beginning. Not to mention both played at least 6 years in the NFL and one of them made a shite ton of money as a QB. I think the later has a good idea of how things work for QBs.

Third string QBs don’t usually save a season after such injuries to 1 and 2 options.
It really doesn’t matter WHO at that point.

No shite. There isn’t a team in the country that, if they get down to third string QB,would have a chance in Hell. 2014 Ohio State notwithstanding.

That's actually funny because when I went to his twitter that was pinned at the top with his transfer note right below it.

If both QBs leave, do we have a third scholarship AN on the roster??

You know how this shite works out for LSU especially when it comes to QB's recently even under Miles. Whatever worse can happen, usually will.

A preferred walk on, I believe.

No Problem? Didn't somebody with "inside" information say Loving was the best QB on the team?

Yes he has. He just hasn’t told us yet. It’s unfortunate Narcisse was the one to transfer, but this is not LSU on the brink growing “more precarious.” This is the transfer clearly being the home run. We have the PASSER we need, and we need to not look back. After all the dual threats who NEVER, EVER worked out, why are we so butthurt about Lowell?
Yea. Packages with Narcisse would’ve been cool as hell. Move on.

Why is acknowledging that our program is on shaky ground and not in good hands considered catastrophic thinking ?

if tua gets hurt and hurts hasn't improved his downfield passing ability.. blah blah blah
Posted on 8/15/18 at 7:52 am to Art Vandelay
Yep and we are seeing the dawn of a new age at college qb. There’s gonna be more and more available qbs looking for new schools every season.

Is it common place for teams to have 3 or 4 potential starters stick around just wait their turn? If we have 2 viable QB's, it's selfish to expect anything else. Any team that loses 2 QB's is screwed regardless.
